Guest guest
Hi Dayna & welcome, While I agree that epidurals are evil , it probably didn't cause this. Many women with MS report feeling fantastic, then are set up for an attack after the birth with the resulting change in hormones. In fact, it's my understanding that there are studies (past or present, I'm not sure) trying to find the relationship between pregnancy and its hormonal role in keeping MS at bay. I'm also 37 and have been dealing with this for about 2.5 years. It started with optic neuritis but within a few months I had a bunch of other symptoms. The first things I did were the Best Bet Diet and acupuncture. Have also done some healing with fasting and detoxing. I have felt fantastic during this time (I do Tae Bo every day and am raising 2 young boys all on my own), EXCEPT when I developed new food allergies earlier this year. I couldn't figure out what the problem was from my food diary and basically lost a couple months of my life feeling like crap. The ELISA test shed light on this and now I'm doing great after eliminating the carrots (was eating probably 5 days a week!), asparagus, and salmon (daily supplement I used to take). My #1 recommendation that you can start right away is to get on a megadose of Vitamin D. HTH! Crystal > Hi, my name is Dayna and I am 37. I have had multiple sclerosis for a year > and a half. Guest guest
> Thank you for responding to me. I am reading this book about MS by Ann Boroch and she believes yeast in our bodies causes MS. It's rather interesting. How do I not stress out over this evil disease? I feel weighed down; and I only weigh 108 lbs. > Yeah, I can see a connection because candida is implicated in leaky gut, which causes the food allergies, which in turn causes a hyped-up immune system and MS is one of the diseases that can arise from that. I'm sure many of us have more issues with candida than we are aware of too, especially since most of us have had antibiotics at some time in our lives! If you want to try the Best Bet Diet, you may find you lose a little weight but your body should adjust eventually. I'm sorry, I don't remember at what point my body did, but it did eventually. In the meantime, use foods with a little more fat to help you feel full and protect against too much weight loss - nuts, avocado, coconut, baked goods with rice/sorghum/tapioca flour etc. Oh, and I like hemp protein powder in my smoothies. Let us know what kind of things you like to eat, and we can probably help you with substitutions and such. Once you are feeling good, you will be much less stressed and feel like you have some control over what's been happening. Really, you will. Guest guest
Dear Crystal, I am so happy to finally be able to talk to others who know what I am going through. Everyone around me has no idea. Can I eat organic chicken? I was eating salads, beans, fruit, veggie sandwiches, and nuts and olives. I wasn't eating meat, but just started eating chicken. I was craving meats, so I started eating chicken instead. What do you think of that? What breads did you eat? Do you have any menus or recipes? Thank you soooo very much. I just want this heavy weighed down feeling to go away. Sincerely, Dayna ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Sun, May 16, 2010 3:35:48 PM Subject: Re: Dayna > Thank you for responding to me. Guest guest
Dayna, you can NOT stress out over this evil disease by taking control of your health. The more in-control you feel, the less it will control you. Get on the BestBetDiet. Look at the CCSVI supplements that Ashton Embry recommends. Look into LowDoseNaltrexone. I also take the B1 and Liver shots per Dr. Klenner. Google him. There ARE things you can do to control this disease. You CAN conquer it. Read old posts on this group. Keep reading and learning. Ask us questions. We are here to help you. You are not alone. Beverly > > Dear Crystal, > Thank you for responding to me. Can I eat organic chicken? > Yeah, MS can be hard because unless you're visibly disabled it can be tough for others to wrap their heads around. The fatigue and brain fog was the absolute worst for me. It was also the first thing to disappear when I started BBD and I remember thinking, " even if I don't get rid of the other symptoms, this alone makes it worth it! " . When I started out, I used a lot of the " convenience " foods, but you have to watch some of them because even though they're gluten-free, they may have other allergens. Just check your labels, it seems soy is everywhere these days. I liked the Glutino brand breads, but I developed an allergy to eggs so I can't have them anymore. Another woman with MS recently turned me onto Sami's bakery in Tampa, Fla. and their stuff if **wonderful**. They have gluten products as well, but their gluten-free stuff is millet, flax, and rice-based. The Tinkyada rice-based pastas are the best I've tried. Also, I've found that the Kroger-owned stores have a pretty good natural foods section and I save quite a bit of money there. I buy whatever I can there, and only go to the health food store for stuff I can't get anywhere else. Oh, the coconut milk yogurt and ice creams are really good too! I had been vegetarian for a couple years before starting BBD, but I started having some poultry and fish. I think it helped keep me from losing *too* much weight, still lost some. Incidentally, while I believe whole-heartedly in a healthy vegetarian diet, I'm sure it played a role in the onset of MS for me. I mean, my gluten and bean consumption went through the roof when I gave up the meat. Keep a food diary and try to remember to also mark down your energy level for that day (I rate it on a scale of 1 to 5) and any other symptoms you're having. That can help pinpoint a reaction to something you've eaten, because it takes about 36-48 for me to feel it and I can't remember everything I ate 2 days ago!
