Guest guest
Hi , I once spoke with a lady in Arizona -- the mother of an acquaintance of my daughter -- who told me she went from severe RA to no meds at all by giving up all foods that contained gluten. That was several years ago. Occasionally I read an article that mentions one might want to try going gluten free for immune system illnesses. I have never lasted long enough being gluten free to know if it would work for me. Whole Foods Market has a section of gluten-free foods. The rice crackers are good, but I haven't had any of the bread that I liked. The pasta is ok. You might want to try going gluten free. I am sorry you have to deal with RA at such a young age. It is bad enough at a much later time in life. Good luck. Patsy ________________________________ From: " BijouxMusic@... I am 38 years old I have had RA since I was about 23, although I've been diagnosed about 5 years ago. I have a quick question for now. Does anybody know anyone that has experienced cure from RA? I mean real cure. Not meds, placebo, diet, etc. Basically, being able to eat and drink whatever you want and have a normal life. Thank you. . Guest guest
Hi , I had a neuroma in my foot that was painful. My podiatrist (sp) gave me a cortisone shot and I have not had it come back in years. It was not related to my RA. Sincerely, Patsy ________________________________ From: marysue <marysue@...> Sent: Tuesday, September 1, 2009 2:14:59 PM Subject: Re: [ ] New to the group , Unfortunately, it often does take a while to get in for a first visit with a rheumatologist. You might call and ask them to put you on a cancellation list. Then if someone cancels, you could get in earlier. In the meantime, you might ask the doctor who referred you to prescribe a low dose of prednisone while you're waiting. It has a lot of bad side effects, but a low dose for a short while should not harm you. I've never seen a relationship between my RA and my diet. Guest guest
Hi Denice, I just wanted to share with you that my mom got a lot of relief with her feet when she was put on a drug called Gabapentin. She did not have RA, but I do and the same drug is helping my pain from a pinched nerve. Evidently this drug helps a lot of different conditions. Good luck to you! I have had problems with my toes being numb starting two months ago. I live in South Dakota (the windchill is 20 below now, and I can't get out of my drive due to snowdrifts), and I have to really watch my feet or I experience severe (level 10) pain when my feet start warming up. This started just this month. Sigh.....I wonder what else will pop up? I also have chronic joint pain that gets me down, and I have a hard time walking because of my big toes. My toes aren't big, its just the big toe of each foot lol. But, I talked to my PCP and she will write a letter recommending me for disablilty, my hearing is in April or May. So,that made my day today! Perhaps you should think about filing for disability Carol? Take care and try to have a great new year. Oh, anyone else have to put up with the great white north in the winter? (Frozen)
