Guest guest
Sharon, I have always been on Oral Contraceptives. When my dr wanted to start me on Sulfasalazine, I was concerned due to the antibiotic element of the drug which can lessen the effectiveness of birth control. Both my Rheumy & Gyn were not sure. I did some research of my own online & there were mixed opinions. But given the fact that there were mixed opinions, I took the " better safe than sorry route " & stopped taking the BCPs. I also know too many people who have gotten pregnant on IUDs or had other complications with them. I'm also on Prednisone, but since I no longer take BCPs, I didn't look into that. My Dr took me off the Sulfasalazine & hopefully I'll wean off the Pred soon once I start MTX - don't know if I will go back to BCPs though. > > Hi Group, > I'm hoping some of you have some experience with various > contraceptives, be it oral, implant or iud, and give me some insight > into your experiences. > I will of course be discussing this with a GP, but often I leave a > doc's surgery knowing less than when i went in! Guest guest
I am not sure how this applies but it is important info. Back in the 60's before fertility drugs....prednisone was given to induce ovulation. Please discuss with your Doctor...
