Subject: [ ] No, its a good topic Re: TIME OUT/nevermind

Okay, Stan didn't insult anyone. He pointed out things from his life

experience. If your life experience maybe different from his, just

like your life experience is probably different from a person living

in Ghana. (I pick on Ghana, because I want to go there.)

Now, when Oprah has a show on how to explain to your children, that

they are not going to be getting everything they want anymore.

That's a wakeup call. I grew up in Southern California (San Diego),

and now live in Orange County. I did not get everything I wanted

while I grew up, but we had an okay home and food on the table. I

was not indulged to the point I have seen children and Teens, being

indulged today. These kids are being told " no " for the first times in

their lives. Stan is correct. Correct for where he lives and the

people he sees on a daily basis. And correct for Orange County,

where the way people live has been an eye opener for me. Okay, I am

a bit jealous at times, but I try to control it. I've met some great

kids in the OC.

I also know that in different parts of the country, money has been

tight for years. Michigan has been in economic straights for

decades. It's just that some parts of the country got there earlier

than others. The economic crisis is not just the USA, Iceland had a

financial meltdown, Great Britain just bailed out the Bank of

Scotland, also France, Japan; it not just us. This is global.

Health issues - It isn't about being able to afford health

insurance. IT'S ABOUT BEING ABOUT TO AFFORD HEALTHCARE!! !! Yep, ya

got me to shout. I had to work with programs that politicians came

up with for too long to trust what they can come up with. We don't

need Suits, Lawyers, and Clerks telling us what we are and are not

eligible too. What types of health procedures we can have or what

medications are fiscally okay to Rx. It's about being able to pay

out of pocket for a visit to your GP for an ear infection, without

worrying about being able to pay your other bills. Those of us on

this list have special considerations. So read how other countries

deal with chronic illness or the elderly, it might not be the

treatment you want. But sit back and listen to board members in

Canada, the UK, France, and even Mexico. Health care is rationed or

available at different levels in different parts of their country. I

was surprised to find out that some provinces in Canada paid for

prescriptions and some didn't. Mostly socialized medicine has a two

tier system, one for people dependent on the socialized medicine and

one for people able to afford to pay out of pocket or for the

remaining private health insurance programs in their country.

Before you bash me, I worked in a welfare office for almost 20

years. Now that I am on disability retirement, I use my knowledge to

research Medicaid programs in the different states for people in

need. I can usually find something for people who need it. Although

there are a couple of States I wouldn't want to live in. Most

States, I can find some sort of Charity health care. Yes, you stand

in line or wait your turn. Most of the time there is a sliding scale

of payments, yes even with Charities; they may want you to pay part.

If you don't have something close to you, maybe it's time to organize

something. You think our new President is special. Wait until he

tells you: You are going to have to do some of the work, that we are

in this together and we will have to get out of this together too.

I do not envy him. It's not just for health programs, but creating

jobs, companies that make things, using our minds to see the future

and make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it for you.

The next few years are not going to be pretty. That statement isn't

directed at anyone. It's a statement of fact. The USA is a big

country. It's hit the country differently in different areas and at

different times. Hopefully it is a FIFO not a FILO. That First in,

First Off, and First In Last Off, for the economic mess the world is

in.

Sorry, I tried to keep it short. %') Mainly I just want people to

remember we are in this together, and we will have to work together

to get out of it. Now paying for it, well, that's a book, not just a

really long email.

This is great.

We are already hearing President Obama talk about everyone in this together.

There is no way the government is going to " take care " of everyone. We all need

to work! Yes Work - do our research, talk to others, and anything you can do to

find the information that you need.

Thanks for the great post.

Yesterday Mr. Obama appointed a Presidential Science Advisor which is a 180

degree shift from the post-administration policy which oddly, and in my opinion,

came to the conclusion that " science " did not exist!

Stan,

Seattle, Cloudy and foggy - snow gone.
