Guest guest
My doctor said to brew Eye Bright Tea and wrap the teabag in sterile gauze and place over the eye and leave on for 30 minutes. I did this but was lucky to get my grandson to keep the pad on his eyes for five minutes. However, even that small amount of time helped. When my daughter went to pick up the tea from the HFS she said she saw some Eye Bright Tea eyedrops for children on the shelf too. You may want to give this remedy a try. The box of teabags cost $3.95 which is cheap enough to be worth using to see if it helps. Ann
Guest guest
We have used strong...as in mud strong coffee - heat doesn't seem to be necessary, but sure does feel good when it is warm - successfully over the years for pink eye. (btw, also works for ringworm - for us, anyway.) Someone's grandma told me about this, many many years ago, and we haven't had any eye goobers, pink eye, or such since. I really do like when something this easy Really does work for us I just wipe black coffee over faces, noses, hands & all now, when things get goobery / snotty. (chuckling - the " forearm wipe " gets a person & their forearm swiped with coffee every time at my house Usually do this about 2-4 times a day, when being " precautionary. " And it does seem to help with styes. I used to get them quite often, as teen & young adult, and tho I will get one every other year or so, the coffee does seem to help get rid of it. At worst, sure makes it feel better... fwiw wishing you the best answers elizabeth > > My NT son developed pink eye today. His school said it was a stye, but > I really think it is pink eye. My baby had pink eye recently and it went away in two days of using oil of oregano. In her case, I rubbed 1 drop on each foot 3 times daily but if your child is older & can swallow it in a capsule or drink it mixed in juice, give this a try. It's anti-bacterial so it can help. I had a stye recently & also the beginning of pink eye. I was taking OLE for a virus & noticed that the stye went away, so also worth trying OLE. Guest guest
Hi , All my mom ever used for us when we got pink-eye was a wash cloth soaked in warmed milk. I've heard recently on another list that breast milk works even better than any other milk. It was usually gone in a day for us. It seems someone else on this list (or maybe it was another) recently said something about using OLE drops. Maybe if it was here they can pipe up? I'll check the other list I'm on too, to see if it was there. I know the breast milk tip came from that other board. Hope you get lots of good input. Guest guest
Yes, if you have access to breastmilk that is the best remedy. The fresher the better. A couple of drops as many times per day as possible. Leila > > > > My NT son developed pink eye today. His school said it was a stye, but > > I really think it is pink eye. Guest guest
Pink Eye is bacterial. We had a mild case and used extra virgin coconut oil. It took 5 days to do the trick so we kept her away from other kids.. When you do a natural form they are still contagious for a longer period. I think. If you go to the doctor they give an antibiotic form possibly. (I really wanted to avoid antibiotics) but your child will not be contagious in 24 hours. Guest guest
Most conjunctivitis (aka " pink eye " ) is not bacterial, but viral. Antibiotics are useless and cause a false sense of security. I use mixtures of chamomile, eyebright and goldenseal in a dilute tea form four times daily until the eye is clear and then 48 hours more. Guest guest
That's good to know, thanks. I used to get pink eye as a kid and no one seemed to know anything special what to do, other than nothing much, 'cept bathing it in a warm water bath or such (that I could remember) and it sort of just went away by itself, but not fast enough for me as far as I could recall. My son is always rubbing his eyes and I'll be ready for pink eye now thought he doesn't seem to get it nearly as much as I used to. (Hmmmm) It may also be associated with our immunity system, (no doubt) where maybe mine wasn't up to his, or maybe I associated with too many people, I'm not sure, but it's not so much a problem for me either way anymore. It was good to know, and such a natural solution. Mike > > > > > > > > > What do most use for pink eye for your kids? Guest guest
We have used Similison Homeopathic Pink Eye Relief with success at our house. It's available at most CVS pharmacys. Here is the link.  http://www.similasanusa.com/products-pink-eye-relief.cfm  FYI, You should throw away the bottle after you use it (for one complete treatment course) because it's possible the tip can be infected from touching the eye while putting the drops in.  Hope it helps.  > >> >> >> >> What do most use for pink eye for your kids? Guest guest
I used SimIasan eye drops when my boys had it (homeopathic remedy) and it went away in a day. http://aydansrecovery.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html > > > > What do most use for pink eye for your kids? Guest guest
Dr. Ryland, Thanks everyone. I'd rather not use an antibiotic if possible. My son's eye is just more teary & it's bothering him. No yellow discharge & slight redness. I saw some white discharge that was dry in the morning. Can you tell me what parts for the mixture? We've just used warm water compresses so far. Thanks, Kathy In a message dated 3/16/2010 7:37:40 P.M. Mountain Daylight Time, fauberttelus (DOT) net writes: I guess an easy way for her to tell is if it is a yellow discharge it is bacterial. Guest guest
My right eye has been kind of itchy. I woke up with icky stuff in my eye. But the scary part is that I was unable to see distance in my right eye. I have previously had cataract surgery and that's my distance eye. Some pretty bad scenarios went through my mind. I did get in to see an eye doctor and she found pink eye. I got some drops and hope it gets better soon. I'm due for an infusion on Wednesday. I hope that can still happen. She said I should be able to do my job working with food by Thursday. I've stopped Imuran for a few days to see if it will help it heal faster. dd
