Guest guest
Hey Kathy, I did the same thing about a yr and a half ago. The Enbrel just wasn't cutting it. Altho it's not 100% It's 10 x better. About 95% clear Herbie

Guest guest
Hi Herbie, Good for you. I wish I could say the same. This will be my 5th biologic, and I have had nausea, and headaches from all. Also have asthma, and get chest tightness. Not sure if that's from the biologics, or just stress. My rheumy tells me that biologics should be good for asthma. In any event I'm hoping that Humira will be the one. Thanks so much for sharing your info! Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I am getting ready to start Humira myself, I to have asthma. This is my first time trying a biologic medication, I am very concerned how I will be affected. Until recently I was told I had fibro and the meds I have tried have been unsuccessful. I am afraid to hope for anything that might help with my pain and leave me able to function. Let me know how you do. Lori
Guest guest
I have asthma also and have not had a single side effect from the Humira. I also have fibro. The Humira is a God-sent drug in my case; giving me some of my quality of life back. Dena www.arthritisBAM.blogspot.com
Guest guest
Hi Doug, I just received my Humira from the VA yesterday, my rheumy was the one to suggest using Humira and the VA did not even bat an eye. I don't understand why the VA is giving you a hard time. I would fight that, talk to your doctor at the VA, I am sure that many vets are on Humira or other biologics through the VA. I do have health insurance through my job which the VA does bill but working in the health insurance field I know that I would have a harder time getting the insurance to pay for the Humira sooner than the VA. Keep at it. Lori
Guest guest
I took Humira for a year through the VA. The only reason they stopped it was when I suffered a heart attack.{nothing to do with the Humira}.There is something else going on here Walt
Guest guest
Please call your doctor and report this reaction. It may be something minor but should be reported. I am glad you are feeling better! Humira did wonders for me! [ ] Humira Hi: I started giving myself Humira injections at Christmas time...and I was wondering if anyone out there is experiencing the same skin reactions as I am. When I give myself the injection, the area around the site on the first day gets red around a half inch or so. Day 2 the area is still red, but larger, around 3.5 inches from around the injection site and the site gets very sore, swolen and itchy. Day 3 the swolen/itchy is gone, but the area is still red. After this, it isnt bothersome, but if I look at myself in the mirror, the 3.5 inch area is still visible...kinda like a bruise (the skin is darker in that area). It stays this way for at least a week. I do feel much better using Humira...but not sure if this is a bad reaction. Thank you! Carla
Guest guest
I used to get that too but I started icing down the area before the shot and it seemed to help. Good luck! ~~~~~~~~~~Joy~~~~~~~~~ From: carlasmustang98 <CarlasMustang@...> Subject: [ ] Humira Date: Friday, February 26, 2010, 10:28 PM Hi: I started giving myself Humira injections at Christmas time...and I was wondering if anyone out there is experiencing the same skin reactions as I am. Guest guest
I've been helped by taking a Tagamet or benadryl too, it seems to reduce the hive. The good news is that it seems to lessen over time. Guest guest
Hi Walt, Has the VA given you an alternative medication to replace the Humira that won't compromise your other conditions? I started taking Humira yesterday, woke up today and I feel no different (it is raining of course) so I figure my next injection I should feel something. I am sorry that you are so sick and having so many health problems. Where are you from? I go to the VA in Phoenix, I am happy with the care I get from them. I used to live in NY and went to the Northport VA, didn't like it there to much. I believe the Phoenix VA has saved my life more than once. I hope you are well. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am on my second attempt with Humira, it has been 6 weeks and I still have alot of joint and back pain. I noticed the first attempt with Humira I was getting headaches a day or two after the injection then I would be fine. I was on Humira the first time for about 2 months when my liver enzymes doubled so I had to stop for about a month before I could start again. I too have bad sweating, severe fatigue to the point I had to leave my job and file for SSI. I do know the first time I did start to feel better while I was on Humira so I would give it some time to work like your doc suggests. You are not alone, all of us know exactly how you feel. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I've been on Humira now for about 6 Months. At first I had dizziness and fatigue. It waned after a few months. My SED rates have been good and the inflammation in my joints has gone down from 11 to 8. Luckily its working for me. MTX however did NOT. It made me very fatigued and almost useless. I listened to my body and stopped taking it.Just remember You know your own body better than your DR. For me I had to weigh the pain from the disease or being a complete Zombie. I chose the pain and stopped the MTX. My DR wasn't happy about it and gave me an earful but he's not the one who has to deal with it. Humira has helped me but now its a waiting game to see if it has any other side effects or wears off after a while. I guess the only thing I can do now is wait and see how this horrible disease reacts. I swim as much as possible and have gotten into the best shape of my life. Diet and exercise even thought it hurt like hell at first has made me stronger both mentally and physically. I think if you can get to a place mentally where you are better, it makes it easier to deal with PsA. Ultimately you are the one who should make the decisions about what's best for you. DR.'s can do wonderful things to help us, but can never fully understand what it's like to actually have PsA. I put time limits on the drugs I take. If its not making me better or I'm worse by 90 days I stop no matter what my DR. says. Hang in there. Hope this helps Sent from C's Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
Hi Pamela, I have reason to believe my back is well on its way to the same outcome as yours, I've said I had a full body bone scan in December 2009 and a cervical ppine MRI in August 2010 showing the deterioration of my spine from this dreadful disease and I have been on Humira since end of February beginning of March with no relief either. I know you probably said but how is the holistic approach working for you? Hugs!! Lori in AZ
Guest guest
Well, it has been a while since I posted. I was prescribed Humira, but it has been five weeks and I haven't been able to take it for various reasons, but tonight is finally the night! I am excited, nervous, and scared all at once. I am hoping that this will give me some relief......any relief at this point would be a joy! I hope you all are having a pain-free day and are feeling well.
