Guest guest
Irene, you had asked about my dogs a couple of days ago. They belong to my daughter and myself. We share them equally except that the larger 2 go home with her at night and the other 5 remain with me. Here they are in order of age: Mojo - 11 year old Manchester Terrier, 16 pounds. She's blind and has diabetes, but gets around like a youngster and still loves to chase squirrels, even though she can't see them. She knows that after her shot she gets a biscuit so when they hear the refrigerator door open and the flap to the butter compartment open (where I keep her insulin) they all come running and Mojo starts barking for her shot...well, her biscuit really, but she endures the shot like a trouper and has never cried or complained. Hoss - 9 year old Chihuahua. He weighs 5 pounds and thinks he's a Great Dane! LOL! The only male out of the bunch. He is my fierce protector and I love him beyond belief. He loves to ride with me, and be held all the time. My family calls him my " appendage " because he is always in my arms. He is really h's baby but has lived his entire life with me because she moved so much for many years and wanted him to have a stable life. I adore this little man. Angel - 7 year old Chihuahua/Terrier mix, 12 pounds. She is all white, and does NOT fit her name! LOL! She is silly and funny, and can get very upset if the playing does not go her way. Her nickname is " Mamacita " because she and Hoss once had puppies together. 6 of the little sweeties and h and I cried each time we found a new home for one of them. We get attached easily. Angel was a very good Mama and is also very sweet. She loves to give kisses and has eyes that look nearly human. Tinky - 3 year old Long-Haired Chihuahua, 7 pounds. She is a black and white fur ball. She taught herself to beg. She sits on her haunches and very wildly pumps her front legs in the air. Too cute! She is rather neurotic however. Doesn't do well with change and hates to go for rides in the car. Such a sweetie though and a very good companion. Pepper - 2 year old Red Stag Miniature Pinscher, also 7 pounds. OMG!!!! She is a handful!!! We had another one like her several years ago, named , who was the light of Chaz's life. But sadly she passed away at the age of 11, so I waited a while and then brought home Pepper. She immediately attached herself to me, though she loves Chaz and h too, but I am her Mom. Her registered name is Red Pepper Doodle Bug, and she is a holy terrier! BTW, I don't ever register my dogs. If I buy a pure bred then it's for the family, not for breeding so I don't bother to register them. Pepper is a wild child and keeps us entertained. Kiera - 2 year old Lab/Mix, about 50 pounds. This is h's watchdog, and she is growing into a good one. She is beautiful, sweet, and very playful. She also tears up shoes, so they have to be kept out of her reach. She is so smart and minds very well. We got her from a rescue group in Austin and have never been happier with a Lab. We've owned several and I can honestly say she's the best of the lot. Layla - Almost 1 year old Golden Retriever/mix, currently about 45 pounds and headed for about 60. Another girl from a rescue group in Austin. This pup is so, so sweet...and so, so stupid! We all love her dearly because she is a big goof. She is Kiera's playmate and they have a great time together. I don't think Layla will ever be a watchdog, but as a friend for Kiera she does a great job. She is also very pretty and fun to watch. That's it! That's our group of hounds! If h and I had our way there would be a lot more of them, but Chaz is freaking out. They can become expensive to keep and this many is already straining the budget. h wants to open a rescue shelter someday and call it " Ellie May's Place " because that was our nickname for her growing up. Hopefully she will be able to do this one day. Sorry that was so long! As you can tell I love my dogs! Hugs! Babs
