Guest guest
[ldnforcancer] Glasgow conference Yesterday, I was at the LDN conference in Glasgow, tiring but illuminating, I met up with and a few others from the groups, is mad!!!!:-)))))) Sorry but it's true, in a lovely sort of way!!:-)))) He does so much for the cause...... Anyway, we were interviewed by a TV company who are hoping to make a documentary on LDN and that would be great, so well done to Elsegood who was there and having tiring days - she works too hard - and Dr Tom. He is so full of energy I decided it must be that Japanese tea he drinks so I bought some. Dickson Pharmacist was there, a really lovely person, he gave me some free ALA and via some reservatrol, so i have that to read about. There was a good crowd there, the place was buzzing, the presentations were fascinating and also included personal testimonies which gave great balance. I made a few notes, but this was on scraps of paper, and obviously I could not keep up with it all, but will do my best and am willing to stand corrected on anything. One thing that interested me was the fact that Dr Tom said that ALA given I/V is better, but not consistant, to get consistancy and that high dose you would need to take about 16/18mgs orally a day, so my dose has immediately been 'upped'. Dr Jarred Younger made a presentation over the net, due to our flights being disrupted, he spoke about his research into Fibro using LDN , which was very promising and interesting, if you can read his work do so...... He spoke of microglia in the brain which can get stuck in the on position which causes tiredness and pain, and so the aim is to target their excitability to reduce the sypmtoms of Fibromyalgia - AND he had had promising results using LDN. A young woman gave an excellent presentation on Crohn's disease, and how LDN had helped her so much, and a young lady from Finland spoke of ME and how LDN had helped her, her problems in getting it prescribed and the attitude of some that it is all 'in the mind'........ The pharmicist said that people in GB can legally get LDN by getting the 50mg tablets that are licenced, so there is no need to buy over the net, and there are now 683 Drs he knows of in GB who are prescribing it. Vit D was spoken about, that it can act as an anti microbial and can reduce inflammation and increase telomere length, much more of course but my notes are not wonderful!!:-))) Tramadol which we have spoken about 'may' be used with LDN as amongst other things it works on the capa receptors - It has a life of about 4 hours so timed correctly may be OK to use. CCSVI was spoken about, very interesting even though I am not an MS patient, how the blood from the brain was compromised, and the work regarding this of Dr o Zamboni in Poland. They looked at increased amounts of iron in the brain, to explain, if you have venous leakage in the legs then you get those brown patches that never go away - then why should this not be so in the brain if venous return is not good? Increased Iron in the brain increases Lymphocyte activity, and they spoke about a particular essential enzyme called MEP9. You would need to look this up! Dairy is not good for MS patients because of the casein which is often found in the blood after a relapse. Dr Zamboni in his studies found that CCSVI co exisits with 90% of MS patients, whilst Dr Zivadinov found in his studies that it co existed with 56%.. So LDN would have a place even if the research in this area proves positive, because it concerns both the venous and immune system.. I hope this makes some sense to some of you, and I ask that you read about it and look it up, as my notes are scant, but might give you something to think of, if I can work more out from them will do so, but for now, get reading!!!:-)))) Cheers Celia celia@... www.dawsholm.dandie-dinmont.com And Just when the caterpillar thought that life was over.... It turned into a butterfly! The pharmaceuticals don't want a cure. They want a treatment. Only treatments have repeat customers. 'Life may not be the party we hoped for.. but while we are here we might as well dance I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it! http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/LungCancerSupportFamily/ http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/LDN_RaisingAwarenessUK/
