Hi Friends...I'm sorry for being so absent lately. You are always in my

heart and in my prayers.

I started a part-time job...a place I worked 7 and 8 years ago...I am doing

nationwide directory assistance, and will be working 3-8pm 5 days a week. Going

back to somewhere I am familiar with has been really interesting...they have

made lots of good changes, but the biggest changes are in me.

I see the hernia surgeon on Tuesday, have my endoscopy and colonscopy on

Thursday, and go on my adventure to Mt. Hood next weekend.

I care about each of you...and am proud to call you my friends.

Much love...

Tess that is just fantastic! It may be easier going back to what

you're familiar with. I hope you enjoy it.

I wonder if any of your old co-workers are still there. They may not

recognize you. I'm so excited for you.

I'll be waiting to hear all about your adventures.

Love & hugs

Tess,

I'm so proud of you! You are such a inspiration to all of us. You

don't give up girl, and that is just so amazing. This gives us hope

that we can go on, and do the best we can. I have wanted to go back

to school, work, and so this helps me to be stronger, and not let

this get me down. One day, I will go out, and get my life back the

way I want it, and with all my friends and prayers, it can happen.

Love you lots,

Tawny

Jane,

My pocket knife was just put outside in the rain to rust so I can

join you! Such a disgrace. Shame on that attorney.

Shame on the judge for allowing it. I'm glad the kids are doing

better and I pray justice will be served.

Wow, Suzanne, it is amazing to me that you are able to write this

long post and sound so coherent!

I'm so happy to hear that your first stage went well. I had talked

with Kam on the phone yesterday and she told me how great you

looked. It really does help to have visits in the hospital to help

pass the time and keep spirits up, doesn't it?

I hope that you have an eventful day with a good walk and a BM! I

look forward to hearing about your second stage going just as well.

Hi to Dr. Bridwell!

P.S. to Suzanne-

I just looked at your photos and they brought back fond memories of

a trip to Cable Beach. So beautiful! Also, I remember that feeling

of laying of a bed of screws, and yes, it doesn't take too long to

go away. I also remember that big bandage over the drain-not fun.

Hang in there. I hope that they're treating you well at . I

felt that the care there was very good.

Suzanne,

You sound like you are doing fantastic! Of course you are going to

feel a little " run over " at this point...but you sound

downright " spunky " ...so good for you!

I am amazed that you are able to concentrate enough to read more than

a few pages...they must be miracle workers there at . I could

get through a magazine article and that was about it. I do remember

that being in my own PJ's helped me feel human again...and the silky

jams helped me move in the hospital bed a lot.

I remember well how hard it was to be in any one position for long

after surgery...and by next week you will probably feel so " touched

out " that even the feeling of the sheets will drive you crazy...but

eventually it will all fade away!

Its great that you are up and about a bit. I think your extra hard

work on preparing yourself physically is showing you results. It's

amazing how much leg strength you use to get yourself up now, isn't

it?

Please know that we are all thinking about you and looking forward to

hearing that everything went fabulously on tuesday next.

Hang in there...you are almost done with this part.

Take Care, Cam

Hi Suzanne,

Wow, you sound so great!!! Good for you. And the best of luck on Tuesday. Seems to me, you'll do just as well with that one. Hope to hear from you soon after Tuesday.

I am sitting in the chair next to my hospital bed, taking advantage of the free wireless internet access. I have a hard time staying awake at the computer, but I am going to give it a try.Dr Bridwell said everything went really well Tuesday. The surgery was about 8 hours long -- he completely removed all three harrington rods, did the decompression at L5/S1, and put in the new pedicle screws. They will go back in this Tuesday for the osteotomies and to put the new rods in. I felt pretty much like crap when I woke up Tuesday, but I do remember them saying that everything went very well. Monday morning, Dr Bridwell had talked about a 40% chance of tearing the dura so badly that the second surgery would have to be postponed, but there were no problems. The back drain was very uncomfortable -- there was a big bandage, but not nearly enough padding. After the back drain came out, then there was not the thick bandage. I still felt like I was sitting on something -- apparently a blister. Dear Suzaane,

You girls that have come after me sure are amazing! I couldn't have put a coherient sentence together so soon after surgery, my husband told my kids not to ask me anything, that I'd probably say okay to anything. You sound so good, and I'm here wishing you tons of luck with this next stage. You are such an inspiration to me on so many levels!

Once it burst, it felt better.I told Dr Cohen that I feel like I am laying on a bed of screws -- he says that is because I am!I hope the feeling goes away sooner rather than later. I can't believe you are so coherent. Gosh, I had so many bad

reactions to the morphine that I don't think I woke up enough to

remember anything until 4 days later as I was being wheeled in for

operation # 2. You are an inspiration! Best of luck, and we'll hope

for the 2nd stage to go just as well. I know you are getting

excellent care there. The staff was so good to me there, and they

all know that Dr. B expects only the best!

Take care!

Suzanne,

Wow, you've been reading! I was home before I could get my eyes to focus enough to read more then 2 pages. Forget getting on the computer!

Great to hear you're doing so well. I really did well too, just different areas. Wish I could come visit but GA is a long way from you. Glad that Kam & Adam could come see you. My husband & I got to meet them last August. What a neat couple. Unfortunately we could be their parents. But we had fun.

You'll be in my thoughts & prayers an extra bit on Tuesday.

I am so glad to hear from you. I know you have had your share of

girl!

I hope your PT brings good strength and relief...and when you get a

minute with that houseful of kids, you tell us all about it.

Dear Suzie,

So glad to see you check in, I know that you said you have had your struggles, and I'm so glad PT is giving you some hope. Kids can really fill up a house, but also fill it up with fun, so enjoy them. I once went out to Boise to watch my brothers 6 kids while they vacationed, and brought my three along, so 9 in total. What amazed me was how much food they all went through, set a BIG meal on the table and it was all gone in five minutes. Glad to see you enjoying your summer. Once again sooooo glad to see you here, and much luck with the PT!

Hi everyone~

Just checking in on everyone! It's been forever since I have been around, hopefully things are moving in a forward motion for everyone! My son and I had been very very sick and have really had to focus on my health issues over the last several months.

I just started going for PT again last week and am feeling hopeful that I will be able to get better results this time around!!! I think that a positive attitude will only help the process so thats how I am looking at it! My brother's kids are here for the summer from NJ which is always a pleasure...he has 5 kids but only 3 are here now, plus my 3 and we are a full house. Its really nice they can spend time here with me or go to my moms and spend time with her and my sister.

Well, I have an early PT appointment so I better hit the hay!

Happy tomorrow to you all!!

Hi ~ Thank you for your post! I am very hopeful about the PT my last go round with PT was not a good one because the therapist didn't have a clue what to do with me as she had never seen anyone that had had revision surgery and the doctor wasn't very helpful with giving information on what I could do as far as exersizes or stretches, so all she could think of was to have me walk around her office...I didn't have insurance that would cover anyone else in the area so I stopped going and continued to walk my mile a day at home. This time we are able to do so much more and am doing water therapy as well! I am thrilled!! Yes the kids can fill the house....we are really blessed, the kids all get along so well and are all very close in age my kids is 14, is 11 and turns 7 on Saturday...to his kids and are 15, is 13 and is 11. is the only one that

doesn't have a buddy his own age but you would never know it!! The food is always the biggest challenge!! I think they inhale the food! and good lord we go through more milk and juice than I care to tell you! But I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China! I miss having them closeby so we gobble them up when ever we can! Hey Cam~ Well, I am really grateful to have been given the oportunity to try my hand at PT again....I am more hopeful now than ever that this will help me regain my strength and help me gain some relief from some of the pain. I way over did it on my last visit but I think its difficult to find the balance sometimes....its only if we learn to listen that we really gain insight into who we are and what our bodies need and can take. I AM ALL EARS!! haha! How are things with you?! Good, I hope!! I am off to watch a movie with the crew! Have a wonderful night!! I am sorry I have been absent so long but I had a lot going on here. The

doctor started me on Methotrexiate. To make a long story short, it did bad

for me, severe nausea, severe fatigue and two spells where the room spun

around even when I was lying down. I finally gave up and stopped it. He

put me on placquenel next. So far so good on that.

I got terminated at work on December 5th. Nice Christmas present huh? I

ended up working Thanksgiving day so sick I had to take phenegan to keep

from having dry heaves and ended up making a med error. I never had before.

But they terminated me for it. No the resident was fine. I felt bad enough

about making the mistake but I had called every med tech and the Resident

care director and no one would answer the phones. I left messages for all

the folks telling them I did not need to be working but someone had to do

medicines. My boss was looking for a reason as that was not grounds to be

terminated. Anyhow to make a long story short, I have been trying to

survive on unemployment (half of what I made) and trying to let my health

improve some.

Lung problems set in badly though. I cannot get groceries in without being

out of breath so bad I have to sit down at least 2 times now. I saw a lung

doctor last week and get a CAT scan and blood work tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I think the lung problems had some basis before I took the Methotrexiate but

something (that medicine?) made it dramatically worse. I had some exercise

induced asthma earlier but mild compared to now.

At this point I do not know what I can do if the breathing problems do not

go away. I sure am not going to be able to go back to Assisted living

Administrator.

I am so sorry to hear all you are dealing with, sounds tough, but you

also sound strong!
