Guest guest
Prayers are going up right now for you and your husband. I understand too well about stress and especially the holidays can make it worse for me. But I know there are others who is a lot worse off than I and probably do not complain. I never seem to be in remission anymore with this RA. As soon as I get off one flare another follows and pain starts in another area or joint each time. I hope you and your husband gets some relief soon. God bless and Happy Holidays!! Irish
Guest guest
I am concerned at two of the symptoms your husband has mentioned concerning his headaches, 1/ being able to make the headache worse when he touches the spot on the back of his head 2/ his right hand shaking when he picked up anything with it. I gather the doctor does not know about these. You need to contact your local doctor, not sure what you call them in the US. I am from Australia. Has anyone mentioned migraines as a possible cause. I am glad to see you are going to see a neurologist soon as he will be able to sort it out for you. I am a migraine sufferer myself and have experienced both these symptoms myself. If the shaking occurs again and especially if is associated with any weakness or numbness in the arm or down the same side of the body, any slurring of speech, you should contact your emergency dept or call 911 so they can rule out anything more serious. I speak from the background of being a nurse. Please let us know how you both are going, you will be in my prayers.   Bev from Oz From: Dalanne <tombstone1968@...> Subject: [ ] Christmas season prayers Received: Monday, 14 December, 2009, 12:50 PM  I haven't posted for awhile now. Since June I've had badly cramped muscles in my right arm to the point that I couldn't work. My chiro has helped butit reached a point that it wouldn't heal past. He sent me to a neurologist in Terre Haute. He thoroughly checked me and thinks that I have a herniated cervical disc and that my RA has taken up residence in my neck. Didn't know that it could do THAT! I am to return day Tues (day after tomorrow) for an E.M.G. test to determine which disc is causing the problem. So....please pray that they can figure out which one and that he can fix this so I can go back to work? What do any of you guys & gals do for relief if you have RA in your neck? Right now heat is the only thing that helps me. Secondly: my RA is really flaring due to severe stress: my husband's heart is better after visiting Mayo back in May but he's been having a constant headache for months! He finally started opening up about the headaches and asked to visit his regular doc. All the medications that she's given him haven't touched these headaches nor has any of the over-the-counter medications. She wants him to see a neurologist and so does he now. I was successful in making an appt in Indianapolis with a group of neuros from the IU Med Center on December 30th! He confessed to me last night that he can press on a spot on the back of his head and make the headaches flame up immediatly! He's been throwing up daily with these headaches and phenergan is barely helping. Last night his right hand shook when he picked up anything with it. Oh, if they can find something wrong?! My blood pressure has been hovering around 140/80 for months now! I think if it weren't for the high stress the RA would calm down again. I know lots of you pray for each other. Would you add us in for a couple of weeks? We're Dalanne & Jim. I do pray for you folks as I see the needs and the hurts but I don't usually ask for it for myself. ________________________________________________________________________________\ __ Win 1 of 4 Sony home entertainment packs thanks to 7. Guest guest
Yes, I'm concerned about his being able to make the headaches worse, too. I made him call his doctor. She asked him to come in for a little more bloodwork. That's it. The neurologist office did tell me that if they get a cancellation they can get him in earlier. The shaking hasn't occurred any more. Seems he hadn't eaten at all that day as all food smells made him nauseous. The Doc thinks his sugar level was too low. I'm just biding my time till we go to the neurologist. On a happy note I had my E.M.G. test today. I really DO NOT ever want to have THIS test done again. EVER. But I do NOT have RA in my neck. I have compressed discs and degenerative arthritis instead. I am to stop my Paxil and replace it with Cymbalta. That doc says the Cymbalta will help block the nerve pain while taking care of my seratonin problem I have. I wish Cymbalta were as cheap as my Paxil was. $35 vs $4 is quite a difference. We are just happy that it is a very slow-moving form of arthritis in my neck. It could have been SO much worse.
