Guest guest
prednisone was a miracle drug for me. I assume you will respond quite quickly. Do not become dependant or over use it. It put me , along with celebrex in ICU for a week. Severe stomach bleed. However there are times the risk is necessary. Good luck. I was suprised but figure this is part of the prescription working. Has any one taken this med and did you continue or is suppose to last for a while? Did it help you? Guest guest
Hi Norma: I have been on daily use of Prenisone for almost 6 years now. For me, it has been a wonder drug. I can't go without it. I see my Rheumy every six weeks, and have my blood tested each month. My blood work is always good. I have been in a med. induced remission since last Sept. I have no pain or swelling from my R.A. My ankles are stiff some days, but that is it. I take the max. doses of placquenil, Sulfasalazine, and MTX each day. Right now I am decreasing my Prenisone from 10. mg. to 7.5 each day. I am going very slowly to see if I can get off it at all. I am going very, very slowly with the decreasing. Time will tell. I hope my information helps. Wishing you pain free days ahead. Guest guest
Norma, Prednisone can help RA symptoms and make you feel wonderful while you're on it, but it also has some very bad side effects. It can cause diabetes, weight gain, osteoporosis, and other things. Low doses for short periods are often necessary to relive the pain and inflammation while waiting for a DMARD, such as methotrexate, to take effect. What you have sounds like a dose pack, where the dose starts out big and gradually dwindles down. The drug always has to be tapered down and not abruptly quit. Do you have a rheumatologist lined up? Guest guest
Sue: I have made an appt with a Rheumy in two weeks. I am taking Celebrex that has helped tremendously..I am starting to exercise and got a ball to squeeze. I just today talked to someone with my same symptoms and she got this 15 or so years ago. She is a hairdresser and still works. She should be a spokesperson for RA. She was amazing. Another words be tough, don't give up, take your meds no matter how you feel and exercise..etc...she was super and I feel so much better. That is what a support group does. Thanks you very much for your input. It will all be put to good use. No steroids for now it is just Celebrex. Take care, Norma from Texas From: marysue@...
