Hello Everyone,

I don't post as often as I should, but I do read every post sent to me by email,

and I appreciate everyone in our group.

I have been diagnosed with RA since January 2009 (age 38), and my symptoms

started in July 2008 with scleritis or the inflammation of the eye. Soon after I

started having joint pain and everything went downhill from there. Right now I

am on Humira twice a month and Arava daily for RA. I am also on Mobic and

Ultram and several other meds related to the side effect of these meds.

I am still in pain, especially when it is time for my Humira shot and several

days after. It often hurts to walk because of my feet and ankles, and my wrists

are also painful. I have had a cortisone shot in my wrist due to tendonitis. I

have had an MRI done on my right foot, and the doctor (or nurse giving me the

results)said I had degenerative arthritis, but it wasn't due to RA and there was

no inflammation. My neck hurts as well, and xrays show degenerative athritis.

Okay, my question is can RA cause the cartlidge to weaken in my neck and feet

and elsewhere, making my joints prone to degenerative arthritis? It seems

logical to me, because I had no problems or pain in any of my joints, and

wouldn't I have had issues before now with degenerative arthritis?

Can RA also affect the tendons in the wrists? Also, do any of you have bad

aching pain in your joints while taking Humira, and does it get worse when your

next shot is due? Sorry about the length, and thanks for your support!

The way RA showed up for you is eerily the same way it showed up for me! I

developed scleritis at age 38 (2007) and after I came off the steroids fr that,

the joint pain set in. I was taking Humira WEEKLY until October, then tried

Simponi for 3 months, and now start Remicade on Monday.

I cannot answer your questions but maybe can. I just wanted to chime in and

say hi! :-)
