Guest guest
is- God bless you for trying to work. I frequently feel like a complete idiot because of brain fog. The idea of 'pulling ones self up by the boot straps doesn't work Only extra care and kindness toward yourself seems to work. Do you have help at home to relieve you of your useual chores? Are you getting enough sleep? Is your pain under control? You need all the support that you can get. Increased fatigue, pain and decreased sleep will only increase the brain fog. Take care of yourself in all ways outside of work. Has anyone complained about your work? you may be overestimating the problem. Good luck. I hope this works out. If the above stategies don't work, perhaps cutting back your hours would help. Margaret Message: 18 Date: Tue, 24 Jan 2006 21:31:30 -0000 Subject: I feel like a complete idiotHIAs you guys know I started a new job last Monday. I am really struggling with the fog and remembering so much new information. I feel like a complete idiot. Then to top it off one of the guys in the office changed my computer keyboard holder - the thing that the keyboard sits on. The one that was on the desk was really shaky. I was so tired and out of it today. I didnt even notice the new one even though the old one was right next to the desk and I could have tripped on it. Someone finally mentioned it to me. By then the guy who installed it had left for the day. I was just so out of it. I dont knwo what to do about this fogginess/tiredness. I have such a hard time retaining any information it is driving me nuts!anyway thanks for listening. is
Guest guest
One thing I do is not only write it down, but not on paper - I type my notes on Notepad on the computer and save it to the desktop - then not only can I not lose all the little pieces of paper, but I can search the text if I am looking for something in particular that I wrote. It also helps me because I am supposed to document all the calls I take and it really helps to have some stock things that I can copy and paste into the customer's notes so I don't have to do as much typing For example when a customer calls and cannot connect to the network, I have " had user shut down computer, check network connections and reboot, now user is ok " already typed and I can just highlight it and paste it into the ticket and it saves me typing. Now even new coworkers ask me for my " cheat sheet " :On 1/24/06, wendy lefebvre < williamstownwilly@...> wrote: is please don't be so hard on yourself!!!! You are human and therefore not perfect. People without Fibro do things like that everyday and much much worse. Difference is your kind and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He will be happy tomorrow when you say thanks. Your doing great is so be a good friend to YOURSELF and stop calling yourself an idiot..OK? From someone who thinks your doing great!!! quiltingbee2 wrote: I try to write everything new down but this place moves so fast and this fog is driving me nuts. I was so busy concentrating on the work that I didnt realize how nice it was to type on something that wasnt shaking. " I did sort of notice it but I was concentrating on not forgetting anything and just didnt focus on anything that wasnt totally work related.Oh, well so they think I am an idiot - or worse yet - old!is> >> > HI> > > > As you guys know I started a new job last Monday. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. Guest guest
That is an excellent idea because you can always minimize it in the background and there it is. Guest guest
Thanks Margaret, I always overestimate my incompetence. I think it is part of my personallity. One woman said why dont you take notes, which I was doing! It is really complicated and totally out of my field - this is engineering job costing and I've never done anything like that. I am hoping that I can learn it and get some of my confidence back. If I end up not learning it and leaving then that will just make me have even less confidence in myself so failing is not an option. As far as help at home, my husband is really good. He doesnt care what is on the table for dinner, helps with the housework when he can - sweeping and keeping things picked up. There are just the two of us now so the house usually doesnt get messy. On the otherhand I am compulsive about keeping things spotless - another type A trait! I am trying to get a good 8 hours a night but usually wake up three or four times a night. Sometimes I can go right back to sleep and others my mind races. Thanks again for your support. is (who used to be an enegizer bunny and now has lost her batteries) > > > is- > God bless you for trying to work. > I frequently feel like a complete idiot because of brain fog. Guest guest
Before I started feeling better, I had for a few years lived in terror because I thought I might be in early Alzheimer's. Many people feel a no sugar, low carb diet helps with the brainfog. It is part of the protocol I'm doing now, and something is sure working. laz > I dont knwo what to do about this > fogginess/tiredness. Guest guest
I've been doing the south beach diet - sort of - for about two years and yes it does seem to help some. I've slipped a bit lately because it is just so hard to think ahead to prepare all that food. When I was doing it religiously it was very good and I dropped about 40 pounds too! is > > > I dont knwo what to do about this > > fogginess/tiredness.
