Guest guest
It is all natural if you buy the actual green leaf and grind it yourself in a coffee grinder. Do a search on " stevia " and I'm sure you'll see previous discussions on it. Search on Bee's website as well. That stevia is $11.99 for 1.3 ounces, however at Mountain Rose Herbs 4 ounces is $3.50 and 1 pound is $10.00, and at Wilderness Family Naturals 1.1 pounds is $9.70 (all US $). Guest guest
Hi , Bee usually recommends the ground green stevia leaf that you can generally find in the bulk bins at health food stores. Most other stevia's have been processed with additives or fillers (like FOS or Maltodextrin) that are not good to have. that said, I use a brand called " JaJa Stevioside " from Emperor's Herbologist. I order it online. It is a white powder that is extracted from the stevia plant that has no additives and virtually no aftertaste. I can almost guess that Bee would not recommend Lakanto. I looked it up and it's made from a sugar alcohol extracted from fruits and corn. jackie > > hi bee what brand of stevia do you like? i am having a tough time > finding one that doesn't live a bitter aftertaste. anyone else found a > good brand in canada? > > also what do you think of lakanto? acceptable sweetener? > > thanks > monique >

Guest guest
Hi , Just to clarify. I think you might have read the message that said that if the stevia has maltodextrin in it, then it's a no-no. It's the maltodextrin that is not allowed. If the stevia is white and doesn't contain any additives then it's fine. Just remember that it has been processed. I saw stevia on the ok list I thought... I > need clarification please +++Hi Colleen. Please be careful whose messages you read. As it states in my candida article some candida sufferers cannot tolerate stevia. It is okay to have if you tolerate it okay, since it is taken is tiny amounts only, and if you get " real " stevia which is the ground up green leaf, and not a processed one. Bee
Guest guest
Yes, you need to test it and see. I know if I put stevia in something, I start craving it like it contains sugar and I feel like a drug addict. I did the Pumpkie pie custard and I ate the whole thing throughout the day (it's only spaghetti squash, butter, coconut oil, eggs, spices and stevia), but I could not control myself. I don't feel any die-off or hangover feeling like when you cheat, but still, that feeling of not being able to control myself about something is a sign that my body does not tolerate that food yet, or that I am not healed enough (physically and/or emotionally - my relationship with food) to include it in my diet on a regular basis. It's all about awareness. I am baking more custards right now as we speak since we have visitors tonight and they will bring lasagna and cake (that I love) and I much rather have a couple of custards than cheat. I could also be stronger and not have anything at all, but I choose to have a little bit of stevia... +++Hi Colleen. Please be careful whose messages you read. Guest guest
Hi , Stevia is not evn necessary in the electrolyte drink. If you choose to use it though, the green powdered version of stevi is the most pure. Any that you find as an extract or that is another color (generally white) has been somehow processed to make it that way. Always read the labels because a lot of manufacturers add other ingredients that you do not want. jackie > > Hi again, > > Is it essential to use whole stevia leaf in the electrolyte drink or can I use stevia extract? Guest guest
Hi Amy, Because stevia tastes sweet, it can trigger your sweet tooth. I think this is quite common for us, unfortunately. You might want to back off on it to see if it lessens your cravings. > <snip> > > However, I am wondering if it could be a cause for my recent sugar cravings and unfortunate diet relapse. Peppermint oil is highly antifungal so that is what is causing you to have more die-off symptoms. That's why it is so important " not to take " anything that is NOT included on this program. I don't know what you mean by commercial form, since you should get the " real thing " which is ground up stevia leaf that is green. You shouldn't use any kind of processed stevia. In the US ground up stevia is available at Mountain Rose Herbs in Eugene, Oregon: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/mrh1.php I can buy it from the bulk jars at my local health store. Guest guest
> > Hi Bee, I was doing some reading about stevia and read that it is great for pancreatic and digestive function. Can you tell me, does stevia increase insulin production in the pancreas? My pancreas is under alot of stress as I have EBV but it is actually overactive, meaning it makes way too much insulin. Is stevia something I should avoid or try? +++Hi Sylvia. Stevia is a carb, like all of the others, since it is a plant food. You would only have very small amounts of stevia anyway, and it is extremely sweet. It is impractical and not necessary to avoid all carbs, but it is important to consume low-carbs according to your ratios of protein to good fats to carbs, so ensure you calculate them: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foods8.php At some point your body is going to be switching over from running on carbs/glucose to running on the high good fats, which is when insulin will reduce anyway.
