Guest guest
There is no simple or definitive test for mercury, unfortunately, and most doctors don't know either how to test for it or interpret tests. The main tests for mercury damage are 1. Fractionated Porphyrin Test (for metabolic damage) by MetaMetrix Lab or a French Lab in Paris. see MetaMetrix website, done through doctor. 2. Immune Reactivity test (MELISA) -blood lymphocyte immune reactivity test -for autoimunity www.melisa.org The main tests for mercury body burden is the 24 hour urine challenge test using a chelator pre test. Reference range depends on which chelator you use: common are IV DMPS or oral DMPS or DMSA, or an oral chelator like HMD or IMD or Pectasol CF or NDF or NCD etc. (you can ask me about reference range or find the abstract of a study using that chelator) (you need to be careful with DMPS or DMSA and have lots of nutritional/antioxidant support) Other useful tests for body burden are Fecal Mercury test- see www.doctorsdata.com website, mercury page (good test for exposure levels) Saliva test for those with amalgam fillings Hair test (through DoctorsData Lab with MD or www.vrp.com or Genova etc. without MD) note hair test is useful for toxic metals and analysis of metabolic status based on mineral balance, but is not accurate for mercury body burden (picks up mainly methyl mercury from fish and not elemental mercury from amalgam fillings- the largest mercury source in those with such- also affected by person's ability to excrete mercury based on blood allele type) (Mineral levels also gives indication of whether you have mercury toxicity- mercury causes cell membrane permeability, mineral absorption problems, mineral imbalances) Blood tests are not very useful, giving on indication of recent acute exposures www.flcv.com/damspr17.html Bernie www.flcv.com/dams.html or /indexd.html
