Guest guest
I use to use hot wax/parafin baths. I needed to adapt my home. Lever door knobs instead of round ones. Larger/fatter pens for writing. Less buttons on my clothing. I use an electric knife to chop onions etc....Bean bags under ny wrists for typing. Good luck.. Raniolo From: cofade_2000 <Cofade_2000@...> Subject: [ ] Cramping of the hands Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 9:52 AM  Hi Group: Does anyone here experience this, both almost at the same time? I am not sure if this is caused by overdoing, but my hands are changing. Grip is lessening, hand strength is too. The cramping is weird and it hurts, I run them under warm or hot water. I wonder if this is just hand fatigue? OKD
Guest guest
Hi I get this too. I do find that it is related to overdoing things a bit. Say if I have done some cooking and had to stir something in a pot and use a knife, I think my hands can't handle making a grip for more than a few seconds. I find that they " scrunch " up and my husband has to massage them very gently to stop the muscle spasm. Once that has happened, it will continue to happen if I don't rest my hands for several hours. I'm not sure how much my grip strength is reduced as it is too painful to make a firm grip but it does seem to be. I've been meaning to ask my rheum about it. Guest guest
I also have cramping of the hands an have had it for years now. There is not much the doctors can do for you over it. I use a hot wax machine, hot water & compression gloves. One of these will help most of the time and I'm partial to the hot wax machine. When I brought this up to the RA doctor his saying was, " whose don't " . I let it drop there and then talked to a hand specialist who advise the above treatments until it gets worst. Sometimes the claws don't seem so bad. Tom g
Guest guest
Thanks for your responses: I LOVE the hot wax too. Plus, I use hot rice in baggies. I notice when I used to go to Rehab, they had hot corn husks heated up, but I dont know where to find them. Its just our bodies way of telling us to chillax - L0L:)) OKD
Guest guest
I use compression gloves a lot because I still love doing my needle work. Thankfully my hands are not being attacked just yet, but I can tell I am loosing strength. I have a very hard time walking as it is in my feet, and back. I also use the wax pot. I also have a full body heating pad, it really helps. BJ > > I also have cramping of the hands an have had it for years now. There > is not much the doctors can do for you over it.
