Hello, I wanted to introduce myself to your group. I have been dealing with RA

since my 20's. I have taken just about all the TNF's and BRM's and a plethora

of other meds. I have several conditions that are secondary to RA. I would

love to meet new friends and share support and information with others who are

going through this devastating disease. Again, nice to meet you all. Michele BB

Hello, I am new to this group and I wanted to introduce myself. I am Michele and I have Rheumtaoid Arthritis and several secondary conditions due to RA. I have "been sick" since my 20's but it was remitting then. I have been in active, severe status since about 1996. I was formally diagnosed with RA in 1998. I have taken about all of the TNF's and BRM's and many, many other meds over the years. I live in MO. and I am married and have two grown children. I am 46 and a true Taurus :) I am looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends with others who live with devastating diseases. Hi Michele:

Nice to hear from you. Glad the Rituxan is working for you. So far I

have not had to go on Biologic's, and I pray I never have to.

I take 10 mgs. of Pred. daily, also inject MTX., max. dose, Placquenil,

max. dose, and Sulfasalazine, max. dose. These are all working so good

for me. Ihave no RA pain at all, and my flares are longer apart, and

fewer in duration. I got diag. 6 years ago, and I am 69 years old.

Like you, I lead a much " stiller " life. I found that hard too. I was

always in motion, shopping, traveling, a go, go, go person. I lead a

much quieter life, and rest daily in the afternoon. Rheumy's orders.

I am grateful for my life, even though I made a lot of changes due to

the RA. I am happy to be pain free finally. It took a lot of time to

find the right RA meds., " cocktail " , for me. My feet, ankles are the

worst hit with RA, and my hands, thumbs, and wrists were hit bad also.

I have a wonderful Rheumy who I see every 2 months, and have monthly

blood work done.

I hope you feel better soon, and get some rest. We need to really take

good care of ourselves, as no one can do that for us.

Talk again.

Hugs,

Barbara

Hey Barbara, nice to hear from you! I don't really know a body part that hasn't

been touched by some form of Arthritis. My spine, wrists, shoulders etc... the

newest is my feet. I also recently started a daily dose of prednisone I just

can't seem to get along without it. I'm really glad you are doing well with

your disease process I haven't been so fortunate but maybe Rituxan will help me

turn that corner! At this time it is the only med that has given me actual pain

free hours in over 10 years!! I am very thankful for this!! I hope you are

doing well also... Michele BB

Hi Michele:

I finally remembered how to erase all the long posts after this post.  They

like us to remove as much as possible, as it becomes too long and hard for

people to read.

I so hope your Rituxan works well for you.  It is like a breath of fresh

air when we get relief from all that pain and suffering.  I can't do without

Pred. either.  I have tried many times to get off it, and when I get down to a

very small dose, or none at all, all that pain and swelling return.  I truly

can't bear it.  At least I have a better life on it.  My feet and ankles were so

bad I could have screamed day and night with the pain and swelling.  Many times

I wished I could have cut them off.  I truly thought I would never get out of

all that pain and suffering.  I know how much it hurts you to suffer all the

time and everywhere.  It is hard to know where the pain begins or ends.  Hard to

live with, that's for sure.  I hope you stay on your Pred. and it gives you a

much better, pain free life.

My thoughts are I will do whatever it takes to be pain free.  I had no life

when I first got diagnosed.  I really thought my life was over.  I had never

heard of RA before, and it came on so fast, I thought I had a brain tumor.  I

was scared to death.

I would never wish this disease on anyone.  I am sure you feel the same

way.

I hope you continue to feel better as your Rituxan kicks in.  I hope you

have complete success with this drug.

I had both knee's replaced due to O.A., and they also had R.A. in them.  I

am loaded with O.A. in my back, neck, shoulders, and my feet.  So far, they are

quiet.  I hope it stays that way.

Wishing you pain free days ahead.  Take good care of yourself, and talk

soon.

Hugs,

Barbara
