Guest guest
Hi Clora. I was so happy to see you post today. It has been a long time since we heard from you, and I have missed you so much.  I am glad you got rid of your Rheumy. Not a nice Rheumy or a compassionate one either. I so hope your new Rheumy goes well, and that this is a kind, nice, and helpful one. You so deserve better treatment.  I have not seen anyone with their nails coming off, and I sure don't know why. I am sure they are tender and hurt also. I hope you new Rheumy has some answers for you.  Are you still on the Enbrel? If so, has it helped you a lot? It is so hard to find the right meds. when you have those allergies. I pray you find some meds. that your system can tolerate.  I wish you many good and pain free days ahead. I have missed your Clora.  Hugs,  Barbara From: CLORA <clora4jesus@...> Subject: [ ] Last RA doc Date: Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 11:21 AM  Hi all, I am a lurker, I have been reading for the last year or so. My last RA doc was so mean to me I didnt want to believe it. She refused to give pain pills. She said she treated the cause not the symptons. Turned out I am allergic to most of the meds for RA. Sulvazalene, Methotrexate, plagunil. darvecet (she will give a mild pain reliever) and. asprin. I was able to take Enbrel. She chued me out the last time 3 months ago and I never went back. My primary doc gives me kadian 60 mgs. I see a new RA doc the 24th this month. My problem is my toe nails and finger nails are comeing off due to my fingers bending diff directions. They don't hurt much. I put a bandaid on them till they work themselves off. Does anyone know what they can do for this. As soon as one comes off a new one grows in. Ouch it does hurt but not bad. Would appreciate any comment on this. God bless all Clora
Guest guest
High 5 Clora....for firing your smug, uncompassionate, sorry excuse of a doctor. I've been through a couple of those myself over the years, and it is a sometimes hard thing to do, but am about ready to fire a third. Just because they have a degree and have spent years in medical school doesn't mean anything compared to living with it for that long. I have had on the job training of RA for 20+ years and have probably read and investigated more than any of them. None of them know what causes it. None of them know the pain associated with it, and for a doctor....a rheumatologist.....not to prescribe you at least a few stronger meds AND make you feel worse than you already do, is definately grounds for Firing, so High 5 again. (thank goodness it a computer high 5 cause it's not physically possible. Sorry I am no help about what could be causing the symptoms with your nails. Sounds painful. If I find anything it, I will definately let you know. Take care, (musiclvr3237) From: CLORA <clora4jesus@...> Subject: [ ] Last RA doc Date: Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 11:21 AM  Hi all, I am a lurker, I have been reading for the last year or so. Guest guest
I've heard of people with psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis that had their nails to fall off. I'm no doctor or expert. Just someone with RA. Just a thought. Please keep up posted Clora! Guest guest
Hi Clora. I am so glad you are seeing another Rheumy. I did not like the Rheumy you had before. She was cold, unfeeling for you and your RA. I can't imagine any Dr. not giving their patients any RX for pain meds. No one can live 24/7 with horrible pain. We all owe it to ourselves to find the best dr., one who will treat us with compassion, dignity, and respect. They owe it to us to try and help us have as good a life as we can have. I hope this appt. goes well for you, and that you really like this Dr. I know how badly your former Rheumy treated you, and I dispised her for doing that to you. You so deserve better treatment. As I told you many times, you are much loved here and we all want you to feel much better. I think of you a lot, and am glad you are here posting again. God Bless you Clora, and may you have many pain free days ahead. I hope your new Rheumy helps you with your nail issues. Guest guest
My rheumy wouldn't give me pain meds ... And the dr I'm seeing now won't either! He said pain meds are bad for inflammation and if I take enough prednisone I shouldn't have pain. My thought was HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN PREDNISONE!? APPARENTLY NOT! I don't know if it has the same effect on others but it makes me puffy and makes my entire body feel tender. I'll take that over the horrible joint pain but it still suuuuucks!!!!!! Some day I'll find relief! Candace Sent from my iPhone On May 20, 2010, at 10:43 AM, Barbara Creedon <bcreedon@...> wrote: Hi Clora. I am so glad you are seeing another Rheumy.
