Guest guest
Hi All, I am taking prednisone 4mgs. daily and methotrexate 15 mgs. weekly. I have developed a gastrointestinal problem. I have many bowel movements (not diarrhea) in a day -- as many as seven. Some days normal. I had this before the meds but only on the rare occasions when I ate too many spicy or unhealthy foods. Now it happens no matter what I eat and I am eating better than ever. I was taking probiotics but ran out and didn't order more so wonder if that could be a factor. I will start back up soon on that. I take the MTX orally, but have no problems such as nausea or other GI stuff when I take it, and no increase in symptoms above. Just saw my gastroenterologist and he thinks it's the MTX. I have a feeling it's the prednisone. Not really sure but have been experimenting with taking the pred different times of day and it may be worse in the time periods after taking the pred, but not sure yet. Anyone have any thoughts or experience on any of this? I'll be contacting my rheumy Monday, but can't always get to him quickly. Best to everyone, Ira
