Guest guest
I am starting to work Fish and Fish oil suppliments into my diet. Should I be worried about Mecury in Fish and Fish Oil suppliments? I would like to consume Tuna and Salmon from a can. As far as a suppliment goes I would like to take Cod Liver Oil suppliments from Puritan's pride. Any help would be greatly appreciated, diet can sometimes be tricky, one does not want to harm themselves by trying to eat better. Thank you! Guest guest
Maddi, I was told years ago to avoid any Tuna, it all comes from the Pacific and as such is contaminated with Mercury. Plus be careful where the Salmon comes from, some salmon farms are also in the Pacific. (England) I am starting to work Fish and Fish oil suppliments into my diet. Guest guest
I think that canned tuna and salmon are problmatic for containing mercury. Farm raised fish is also contaminated. Eat wild caught fish, the smaller the fish the less chance of mercury. If you want to add fish oil I would consider cod liver oil instead. It has a better EFA profile. I buy Green Pastures Blue Ice Fermented CLO. Other brands that test for mercury are Nordic Naturals, Carlson's, Garden of Life Icelandic CLO. > > I am starting to work Fish and Fish oil suppliments into my diet. Guest guest
Canned salmon is Alaskan wild-caught: it's safe. Canned albacore tuna is higher in mercury than " light " tuna because albacore is a bigger fish and higher on the food chain. Martha
