hello all, I'm new here, I have not read the intuitive eating book but

is very much like the weight down diet, where you focus more in your

body needs of food when hungry and stop when full.

I started to be more aware of real hunger feelings, and wait

patiently to satisfy it. More difficult than that is to stop when

nicely full. (not painfully full). With some trouble I have to learn to

eat tasting to the last flavor molecule of the food. As Gwen says, the

stomach doesn't taste. Of course I have been enjoying the fact that

food taste great when hungry no compare when not hungry., I do not eat

to fill any emotional feelings anymore. I'm unconfortable plump. less

than a year from now I was active and comfortable 155 pound which was

not slim but fine. The last time I weighted I was 165 pound. I don't

fit into my clothes again which is the story of my life. I don't hold

to thin clothes anymore, I give them away to someone thiner and buy in

the thrift store bigger disposable fatter clothes, period.

I don't want to hear the D word no more. It's insane I'm not going

back to all that nonsense. That is why I join this group looking for

support and hopefully a life long relationship with others in the same

struggle. I would like to hear someone that can share something about

the book intuitive eating that has help you. thank you.

I would get the book for sure and begin to read it. It is great reading and you will see yourself in it page after page. I just wanted to comment on something that you wrote in your posting. You mentioned wanting to give up the diet mentality. I think that you may be hanging on to a bit of it in regard to your clothing. you said that you give away your skinny clothes to someone thinner and buy disposable larger clothing from a thrift store. Just like foods.... are you buying CLOTHES that you actually LIKE?.... That honor you NOW in this moment OR are you buying clothes temporarily until you reach the size that you want and then you will begin to buy to your taste? Just asking because I can

relate to that and I had to begin to go out and buy things that I LIKE at the size that I am now. I feel more valued having done that even while knowing I may lose weight in the future. NOW is all we really have. Peace and blessings Carllie

Hello all.

I actually don't like shopping for clothes and it's a challenge to do it at my present weighed, but I'm not daydreaming in a future moment when I reach a thin weight to dress well. And only for recycle and economic proposes I do not buy at normal stores. I recently found out this store and they pick up stuff at my house and I go there and buy others stuff that I like and fit. Of course I live in the moment as is the only moment I have and I want to look good today as I am. By all means I try to go on my way down to a comfortable weight. It is very good that we do not look better fatter and that it is actually uncomfortable to move around carrying more weight. That motivates me to keep aware of not overeat and move. But I don't want to obsess in special diets as is not what but why to eat: hunger. And eating in response to hunger is SO rewarding that now when I eat for fun is like chewing straw in comparison to eating hungry. It make so much

sense.

Very true, Carlie, and this is something I've been

learning myself. Sometimes I look at my closet and

am appalled at all the things I have there that I

just NEVER wear, primarily (if I'm really honest)

because they just don't make me feel great. I like

to wear clothes that I'm comfortable in AND make me

feel good about myself. So my rule now is that when

I'm trying on clothes I stop and ask myself if I

LOVE the item - if i just " like " it, not love it,

it goes back on the rack.

I also go through my closet every once in a while

and purge it of any clothing items I don't absolutely

love when I put them on. Things that just " do " .

I bag 'em up and take them to the local thrift

store. Maybe someone else will love them, but

there's really no point in taking up my closet space

for things that just don't make me feel great about

myself.

I do a periodic purge of my closet as well. I've got a bag right

now that I am donating to a womans program. I have to admit that I

am working my way to ONLY buying things I love. Sometimes I need

things and because the selection is limited, if I can't find things

I love... I go for LIKE... which is a step up from just " getting

things that just fit. " I am encouraged by what you said though and

I could just imagine what my closet would look like if the WHOLE

thing was filled with things that I LOVE. Wow! What a Thought. I

will think about your post next time I go shopping. Peace Carllie

I really LIKED WDW, it helped me tremendously with a lot of my " bad

habits " . I have two of her books (I liked the first one best), The

Exodus tapes/workbook and the Weigh Down @ Home kit. VERY helpful. I

hear there is a lot of " ruckus " regarding Gwen Shamblin.....can't say I

understand it all, but sorry to hear there are issues. Is it REALLY

all THAT bad? (the issues) please DO share.

thanks for reminding us that the stomach does NOT taste. So eating

fast does not benefit us, but really tasting and enjoying what we DO is

does. I love all these tidbits of helpful advise!
