Guest guest
Hi everyone, My name is . I'm 33 and was diagnosed with sero-negative Rheumatoid Arthritis in March of this year. My rheumatologist took one look at me and said it's RA. I was also tested for Lupus and lymes disease. With a high sed rate and no RA factor she told me it's sero-negative. I have been on plaquenil for 9 months and MTX for 4 months. I really haven't felt any difference. I've had very little swelling since my first flare up but the pain is pretty constant. Today when I saw my rheumy and explained that I pretty much only have 1 to 2 good days a month. She made a disbelieving face. I also told her I worked in retail and that after Thanksgiving from working so much and so hard it had caused a flare up that put me out for 2 weeks. And she blew me off saying that I was only 33, I should be able to work overtime. Should I look for a new rheumatologist? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long note. in Detroit
Guest guest
What the heck does your age have to do with it? An RA flare is an RA flare regardless. Pain is pain. I swear, I wish that you could just give somebody this for say, 1/2 hour. ( No longer- NOBODY deserves that. ) That they could feel exactly what you feel for that time. Would clear up a lot of explanation to folks that don't 'get it'. Oh, if wishin' made it so! I would expect the average person not to understand- but a Rheumy?? I'd call her out on that. If she has been great up until now, I'd talk to her. If she hasn't been, I'd start looking elsewhere personally. Docs are people too- but Geez....
