Yes, I've had this Jill. About 4 weeks ago, I couldn't open my mouth for

almost a week! Great weight loss plan though.

This disease is sooooooo weird. I was on a the 5 day pred pack a few weeks

ago. Slowly but surely, the pain is growing and growing. I find after the

pred packs, the pain comes back in totally different spots. But the weirdest

thing is that is has manifested to my jaw. I can't close my jaw all the way.

When I eat, I have to push all the food to the front of my mouth, otherwise

it's too painful. I does come and go, so I am pretty sure it's the RA and

not TMJ (which I had as a kid). Anyone else ever get this?

I really hate RA... it sucks.

Jill

I get jaw pain too. I have noticed that I am having more and more pain with my

jaws. Funny because that was the clincher for my Rheumy when I got my diagnosis

in Oct.

I just came off a Prednisone Taper about 3 weeks ago. First time I felt normal

in weeks! Unfortunately, I over did it: had a lot of stress due to to my mother

having two mini strokes this week (She and I live 1500 miles away from each

other and I couldn't get there),  a large work project that was due last Friday,

and us literally building a house ourslves. By Monday I had a head ache, then my

eyes started, the jaw, the neck, and so on, and so on, and so on! Got to the

point I couldn't do anything and was in tears. Hubby got me some soup with a

straw because I couldn't open my mouth. Spent the next two days at home in bed

trying to recoup. I have the jaws back, but the rest is slow coming.

I have noticed that if I start to over due it, the glands in my neck and under

my jaw start to swell and become painful. Does anyone else get this? I'm still

just on Plaquinil and OTC Motrin (I eat way too much of this!).

About a month ago I got terrible jaw pain and went to the dentist and no problem

there...and then it got so bad it was hard to swallow sometimes, so I was sent

to the throat specialist...

it eventually just went away and I never ever related it to RA........so others

of you have had this problem........I should have known!!

I just went through this Jill, and let me tell you it really stinks! I

ultimately needed prednisone to work my way through the worst of it, but I was

really miserable. I hope that you feel better soon!

Hi All and Welcome to Beth and any other newbies out there!

I've been lurking for awhile as I've been too busy to respond to each post but

wanted you to know I'm reading them and saying prayers for healing for all of us

dealing with RA and similar diseases!

I thought I'd share that I have had, and continue to have, intermittant jaw

problems. They usually only last a few days then all is ok again with the jaw.

For you newbies, lean on this group as you need to for moral support and for

answers to questions that we can answer.

I'm off to my Rheummy soon as I've been having problems with my feet and I

finally saw a foot doc who says my toes are really screwed up and I should see

what meds my Rheummy can add to my metho and medrol to help! I'm on rest for the

next two weeks and am not supposed to be on my feet more than about 30 min a

day! Yuk!! My 17 1/2 yo son is being really helpful now that he knows I really

do need help from him these days! My daughter would help but she's off at

college!

Thank you, Elly, for the welcome message. I have had problems with my

big toes; sometimes it hurts to walk. I am an exercise nut and I keep

exercising because it is one of few things that makes me feel better. I

do hope you get some help / answers.
