Guest guest
Hi Barbara Ann, It took me having a transplant to change my negative thoughts. Comming so close to death helped me to appreciate life even more. I cherish every moment to its fullest. Even bad and frustrating days don " t seem so bad anymore. One CNA that I became friends with when in hospital told me she liked to laugh and surrounded herself with happiness, and she always made a point to come in my room every night even when I wasn " t on her care list just so we could laugh together. I think of her every morning when I get out of bed. And life to me has a whole new meaning. Now when I have to go back to inpatient I am always admitted to same floor. We hug and laugh somemore. Guest guest
Hi Geri I'm not letting depression get to me!!! (I think) sometimes I just seem to get to the end of that rope sooner then before. My Job is still very funny, but it's wearing since I'm picking up My 2 bosses work load!! does it surprise anyone they are men!! (hey no offense to men in this group) The liver biopsy was this week and the results that I will not receive until 19th, I'm not looking forward to. And I swear I always get the days that it's take ur kid to work day and or co/op day. And I'm always the one they ask if they can watch!! After I'm drugged?? lol Well the kid had to sit down he almost got sick!!! lol After I offered to play hangman with him lol and was very disappointed that he said no!! those drugs!!! For some odd reason I wanted to play games after that. Oh and this time I saw the sample yuck!!!!!!! And do all the rest of you have the biopsy done in the prep room with just a shot of good drug and a needle that stuck into ur body or is it just me??? Well I was so feeling good it did not bother me at all and I got breakfast and lunch!!!
Guest guest
Dear , I just got back into town and sat down to read 88 e-mails from . I hope today is a better day for you. I just wish I had the eloquence of Geri, who makes us all feel better. Let us know how work goes this week. If it makes you feel any better, YOU have helped me a bunch. thank you
Guest guest
Hi , I do remember when you had that one siege of depression and it made me sad, worrying about you! You always make me smile and I'll bet that you have the same effect on the people you're with everyday, at home and at work. Your patients are lucky to have you in their lives. From everything you've said over the months, your doctors are caring and they are good doctors who are doing everything they can for you. Not only that, but they keep their eyes open for new possibilities that they think might help. That's as much as any of us can hope for! Getting ready for another cold winter? The sun is shining here today and the sky is clear and perfectly blue. But, I miss being able to sit indoors and watch the snow fall during winter months. Take care, Geri
Guest guest
Geri It has already snowed!!! alot, the day of my biopsy, one day we have 5cms -20cms of snow the next day it's 14!! lol Work and it's responsibilities left for me are getting to me, we have been having a huge turn over, due to staff being scared. but I'm trying not to get to the point that it puts me in that place I was before, I cannot change what is happening and this time I'm not going to try. thanks
Guest guest
Oh thanks And I'm thinking of transferring from the house, I love the clients, I'm having trouble working with an uncaring, no thinking staff!! including the bosses who work a 3 day week!! Guest guest
, Last winter some of your snow stories totally cracked me up. I think you're right. You can't let your job get to you but I don't think it's in your nature to just ignore things that bother you. Your sense of humor is your salvation. Above all, though, you have to take care of your health. You've had some rough ups and downs this past year. Do take good care of yourself. Guest guest
Hello Geri I'm not looking forward to snow this year!! Except when it leaves!! lol I have to tell u about the phone call at work last night.. I had another highly respected primary from another house call me, and ask if I had any business to but on the full time agenda. Before I could reply he continued, anything except Mike(my boss) being a lazy A hole and not doing his job!! I was taken back, but only could laugh, he continued and said he was going to make a appendix a for the agenda and call it 's crap!!! lol And the first line would read Mike needs to but down his bible and his guitar and do his f------ job, before brandy ends up in nickels lol (physic ward) surprise they don't no it but all ready been there lol. He continued to say that ben my big boss is going in for an operation!!!??? I said oh no what for???? He said to get a spine inserted!! lol He ended the conversation with telling me that it is a known fact in the agency that I do both mikes and my Job and I do them exceptionally well. He also said that I should ask for a transfer, because your job should not be your life!!! He told me to take care and hoped he see me at the meeting!!! I needed to here that!!! Guest guest
, You work with a funny (ha ha) bunch of people. What a conversation that was! At least there's something to laugh about now and then. Wonder why this other guy called you? Maybe he was hoping you'd ask for a job at his facility? Do take care of yourself. Guest guest
Geri It was a nice phone call, and at the meeting this gentleman sat next to me and we passed funny notes, and cracked jokes through out the meeting. lol Now lets not get the wrong idea (he is gay). The interesting thing about this meeting was that there is to big meetings focused on how the company is going and it will be attended by the managers/ directors and the primary's. (darn I'm a primary's assistant!!) And then they announced by no surprise to me!! all primary's are to attend regardless except in the case of cumberland will be attending!! What the hell is that??? All go it means no real work and a nice change??? but I must remind them my pay is 10 000 dollars less then mt primary's??. So I'm going to these " workshops " and all make sure when I go for my review and for higher jobs that I have all ready been doing the job??? And I deserved the pay along time ago. lol I also after the meeting had a intense conversation with my big boss, and surprise it was regarding my health!! of course I shed tears, just don't ask me one question " how are you feeling " ???? I reminded him that 7 months into my job, i got sick and I have risen up the ladder, really fast! that I do my job and more and I do it well. And that I don't want him thinking that I'm not able. He reassured me even though many time we don't see eye to eye, that he knows he can depend on me to be there and to get the job done, and that i have the best interest at heart for the individuals I support. He said u take hardly any sick days, that him understanding what I'm going through gives him a better idea where I'm coming from especially when I fight about pro active prn's?? He also said if you don't take care of your self then you won't be any good to us!! I hate talking about my health to my co-workers, especially upper management. What a struggle!! I'm sure they won't fire me?? they have a hard time firing anybody lol.
Guest guest
, You have an interesting life, that's for sure, and certainly know some interesting people. I still laugh when I think about you racing all over town trying to find your " lost " patient last year. It's pretty upsetting when you make considerably less money than people who have fewer responsibilities and accomplishments than you do. I drew the line when my employer hired some guy who knew NOTHING about what I was doing, and made him my boss. The guy had to ask me what to do and when I would write new procedures, he'd try to put his name on them when they were issued to the branches. Since I'd been writing shipping procedures for years, all of the field offices knew they were my " babies " , and when they'd call him with questions he'd have to ask me what to tell them. He made about $50,000. a year more than I did. But the company paid for what they did. Because of the new boss I quit and a month later this guy walked off with corporate plans for the coming year and went to work for Fedex. That left them with no one to do the job and no one who even had a clue about how to do it. I've never regretted it though after I left the job, I never again made that much money. Life isn't fair, but I wouldn't want to ever be the kind of person who takes credit for other people's accomplishments. There isn't enough money in the world to make me want to do that. I often think that job is what started my autoimmune reactions that led to AIH. Ongoing stress can definitely make you sick, so take care of yourself. Unlikely anyone else will. Guest guest
Hi Guys, I haven't been posting much lately...as some of you may have read, I was dxd with Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis, as well as Bb, tnrough IGeneX. I have had a ''band-type " headache for over a month. My LLMD thinks it's from the coinfections. He gave me Darvocet which helps a little. Neurontin used to help the headaches, but not anymore... just the neuropathies. He started me on Zith and Mepron along with the Flagyl that I was already on. He's waiting until my next appt to treat the Erhlic, since I had been previously treated for Lyme with Doxy...and I wound up in the hospital due to the severe herx. I am not improving and something really scary has happened...when I woke up today, I couldn't get up. It was like my whole body wasn't receiving any signals. I would try to move my arms and legs, but they were extremely weak and just sort of flopped around. When I eventually was able to get up, my legs felt like they weighed a ton, and my arms felt heavy. It has subsided some, but not completely. Has anybody else experienced this or have any clues as to what it is? My EEG showed no problems last year... I don't know how much more I can take... Guest guest
Hi Joan - Just want to say hang in there and yes I have experienced all of this before. I know exactly what you meanabout the " no signals " feeling. I also was positive for Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis and Lyme. In the beginning I was treated with Doxy and ended up in hospital from the doxy herxes - went on and off of the doxy for a while as well as many other ABX over the past year and a half - continually on abx the whole time (except when herxes are too severe) and recent tests from Igenex show now that I have won against the Ehrlichiosis - have almost beat the Babesiosis and still I get the symptoms you describe but they are much milder than they used to be. The first time I woke up like that, I went to the ER and it turned out I had no potassium, am now on supplements. I had to spend a week in the hospital to recover though. Maybe some testing of potassium and electrolyte levels would be good? I guess with these conditions, anything can cause our symptoms but just wanted to share what they found with me. Currently am on Zith to continue to get rid of the babesiosis and Bb. Hang in there - it can get better. Some days I thought I was dying and still wonder. I don't know if the illness or herxes are worse - all of it is very scary and I have been hospitalized many times during these battles. I think it's especially hard when hit with all three of these infections. Guest guest
Joan, I feel so bad to hear a fellow Long Islander in such pain. Sometimes I think they should build a home for all us Lymies since we are the only ones that seem to understand what it is like. You know what you have now and you can take alot more. You will survive. Feel free to email me if you would like to talk about our LI or anything. Be Happy! jim
Guest guest
Thanks for the support, Jim. Yes, I now know that I have Babs as well as Ehrlic, and it explains why my year of oral abx for Lyme wasn't making me better and why I was getting worse...but not being abe to get out of bed yesterday really scared me. I see that you're a fellow LI'er, and we probably have more to talk about...keep in touch. Thanks, Joan

Guest guest
JOAN: IN REFERENCE TO YOUR E-MAIL CONCERNING YOUR WEAK ARMS AND LEGS I WOULD HAVE TO SUGGEST THAT A " POSSIBLE " CAUSE OF THAT MAY BE WHAT IS KNOWN AS A SPINAL STENOSIS. THAT SIMPLY MEANS THAT THE SPINAL CORD (USUALLY IN THE NECK AREA) IS BEING PINCHED BY THE BONES SURROUNDING IT. THIS LEADS TO A CUT OFF OF SIGNALS FROM THE BRAIN AND ONE SYMPTOM OF THIS IS A GROSS WEAKNESS OF THE MUSCLES. AN MRI OF THAT AREA IS PROBABLY THE BEST WAY TO SEE THE STENOSIS. A NEUROLOGIST OR NEUROSURGEON IS THE BEST TYPE OF DOCTOR TO SEE CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. IF AN INFECTION OCCURS IN THIS AREA AND EATS AWAY AT THE BONE THE BODY WILL ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE BONE AND IN DOING SO THE REPLACEMENT WILL NOT BE EXACTLY THE SAME SHAPE OF THE ORIGINAL BONE. THE IRREGULARITIES IN THE REPLACEMENT BONE COULD POSSIBLY PRESS AGAINST THE SPINAL CORD THUS CAUSING THE STENOSIS. IF YOU FIND THAT YOU DO HAVE THIS PROBLEM I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I WAS RIGHT ABOUT THIS. Guest guest
Hey Bob , Joan and All, I had cervicle Fusion , C6-7 because of pinched spinal chord. I can tell you now at 4 weeks post-op I feel 99% better. No more migraines, Carpul tunnel symptoms are gone and the numbness in from hips down is gone. Dr said that I had a bone that chipped and the fragment was what was giving me the majority of the problem. I had no injury, other than normal horse riding stuff, so I have no clue what made the chip. Just thought I would pass that on. Pepi
