Guest guest
I've been lurking since I joined. Not doing well at all, and, hell, what is there to talk about? There is only so much bandwidth I can take up with " Today I stared at the walls and moaned in pain... " . However, I had a bit of unexpected good news this week (I guess the powers that be got distracted by torturing someone else, and thought I would share with those of you who are convinced that there is no hope for people with this amusing little disease. I found out on Monday that my SSDI benefits were approved. I won't go into how much this means to me, but will say this - it is literally a lifesaver at this point. Because I was a little Type A troll drone in real life and paid in through the nose, my benefit level is actually not bad, and, with what they allow you to make without effecting your benefits, I can live on it (until I figure out what to do with the next 40 years of my life). What made this REALLY surprising was that I only applied in May. With all the horror stories I had heard, I was prepared for a long struggle, particularly since I was only officially diagnosed in May - of course, I had had nice acceptable severe depression and herniated discs for several years. Anyway, I'm not writing this to rub it in the face of anyone who has gone through or is going through the struggle, but rather to encourage anyone who is and even more to encourage anyone who hasn't bothered because of the horror stories. After all, you paid for it. Now I'm off to apply for all the other things that society gives us officially disabled folks. It's amazing - they treat you like a drain on society, a malingerer and a lagabout until you are OFFICIALLY declared disabled, and then suddenly they shower you with free stuff. Something wrong there. Officially Disabled -- _________________________________________________________ on leslie@... Loki on loki@... Shadow on shadow@... Amelia on amelia@... Fenris on fenris@...
