Guest guest
Hi : Glad to see your post today. I think of you so much, and hope you are still doing great. You have your life back now, which is just so beautiful. Are you still seeing that special guy? If so, I am very happy about that! Please give me a note when you can. Love and hugs, Barbara From: stephanie <stephieann2@...> Subject: [ ] Ticket to Work -Work from home RA-Support Date: Monday, February 16, 2009, 8:31 PM Hello everyone! I recall reading awhile back from a few members who work part time from home taking calls for companies. I was wondering if someone could help me understand the ticket to work rules. From what I understand, there is a 9 month period where you can earn as much as you can. After that nine month period you can keep your full benefits as long as you earn under $980.00 a month. You can also keep your full medical benefits. Am I understanding this correctly? I was wondering if anyone else is doing this, working part time on SSDI and if I am understanding my rules correctly. I'm much better, yet not 100 percent so I can't really afford to lose my benefits entirely. I've read the publications, and tried to have a SSA rep help me but still am not getting the technicalities. I thank you all for your input and assistance and hope everyone is doing well:)
Guest guest
Hi Barbara! Thanks so very much! I will drop a note soon! I am attempting to figure out this ticket to work program! I had an agency that works with SSA contact me about answering phones from home. They stated that my state vocational agency would pay for any equipment I needed. Today when I contacted THEM they said I needed a release from my doctor and that they help people go back to work but they aren't sure about working from home. I have to work from home as my panic disorder has flared up a bit, and I can't really drive on a continual basis yet. So the agency from the state isn't really being that helpful as usual. I have my interview with the SSA agency today so I guess I will see what they suggest? Guest guest
I know they have a work incentive program but you have to sign up for it and let them know you are attempting to work while accepting benefits. As I understand it, you must be able to earn a certain amount for nine months while the track it, however, those months are no consecutive so you can be on the program for five years. Amount you can required to earn has changed from year to year. I'm wondering if you let them know that you were working? Also, I'd try the national number, it takes about twenty minutes to get through but they always seem to know what they are doing. The local people seem to be only interested in general questions and filing forms. Stan, Seattle, Cloudy but warm. Guest guest
Hi, I applied on line, printing a copy is a pain. I decided to go that route because I didn't want to sit in the office and have someone else write my answers. I took my time, you can save it and go back at any time. You can also change your answers if you've made a mistake. You do have limited key strokes, but at the end you can say what you want. There are forms to print at the end that you have to sign and bring to your local office. When I did that, I got called in for an impromptu interview, questions, etc. Lasted about 15 minutes. Then a month later, I received an application by mail, most repetitive questions. Since that was handwritten, a friend helped me out after I scribbled out some answers on my own. My hands were so tired it wasn't that legible. You have 10 days to return it. So, as I posted yesterday, now I'm just in the waiting stage. Good luck! Guest guest
I would, when you apply on line there is a worksheet. Get the worksheet and then get all the information together before you actually apply. It takes about an hour to complete the online questions, there is a lot to fill out. Then you recieve a printed form to take to the social security office anyway. Then someone will call you back to go over the claim and actually file the thing and give you an approximate hearing date. The best advice I can give you is to get all the information together yourself so you can put it in their hand. Things go a lot faster if they have eveything, if they're missing something then it's up to them to get it and they have a lot of things to do, so you wait. If you take care of it, it get done a lot faster because who care more about your claim than you? I was approved in two months fourteen days, when I asked about a hearing they said no need, they had everything they need in front of them. Be honest and polite and it goes fast. Guest guest
Hi, I had Drs. telling me to apply, and as I said earlier, I know a decision was made, just waiting. The stat I heard yesterday was that most get denied the first time and 75% are approved on appeal. Go figure. When I was at the SS office I was told that they are working under a 2 to 3 month process. Meaning, an answer has to be given by 3 months. I am right at 2.5 months. It never hurts to start the process. Get familiar with what you will need, mostly names, addresses, tel #'s of your Drs., hospitals, dates of tests, etc. Good Luck.
