Guest guest
Hello all, I've been lurking for a while to see if in fact I would fit in here. Seems I will, hopefully. I'm 66, dxd w/RA at 16, symptoms at 13. Over all these years I've had almost every med offered on the market, with great success! I've just started on Enbrel after being on mtx, Predisone & folic acid for almost 20 years. Before that was gold injections. I raised 5 children, almost alone, with this disease. So I know what a struggle it is. Sometimes the pain is relentless but somehow we muddle through, right? Thankfully, the worst deformity I have is my right hand & both wrists. Both hands/arms have had at least 2 surgeries each with the wrists being removed, bone from hip formed a past and reinforced w/plates and screws. So Imagine operating w/o your wrists bending =) of course some of you probably already have that. I apologize for not being too familiar with everyone, but I hope to do so. I have noticed one friend already. It's good to see a familiar face =) Thanks for having me & I'll try to stay as caught up as possible. If there is ANYTHING I can say or do to help in supporting any way, I hope to do so. We all need every ounce of information & support we can get. Guest guest
Hi Renae - welcome to the group! Nothing compares to what you have dealt with for such a long time. I pray you have as much success with the Enbrel as you have had with most everything else over the years. What a huge adjustment that must've been for you having your wrists immobilized like that! But, if it eases your pain, then its worth it, right? I pray you find yourself as comfortable and at home with everyone here as I have. The information and camaraderie is priceless. Looking forward to seeing you around.....Doreen > > Hello all, I've been lurking for a while to see if in fact I would > fit in here. Seems I will, hopefully. Guest guest
Tawny, thanks for your kind words. Hopefully, I'll get to know everyone soon. As you can tell, I'm not bashful. I know you are going through some awful, awful times and it's not easy. Been there, done that :-) My story is very long but I won't go into it right now except to say this - I too was raised by a parent that was mentally ill & not dxd (that's not an aspect of my life I share unless I think it can help someone else and of course, there's so much more to it =)). But God had His hand on me & I came through it and so can you. Just remember you have a lot of support from a lot of wonderful people. We may not understand everything, but can be those broad shoulders to lean on. My other saving grace was my father. He, too, had this crippling RA but he managed to be my rock protecting me from my mom. You hang in there. There truly is a light at the end of that tunnel. Guest guest
Hi Vicki bq, bless your heart for having to using a cane. My dad was on crutches for several years of his life b/c of his knees. Is your's your knees? Hips? Maybe some day some meds will come along that will make you all better. And here's returning those good thoughts. They are always welcomed. Hope to hear from you soon. Guest guest
Nae, Thanks for sharing a part of you. It's not easy, but it somehow makes you feel better to talk about it. I have finally gotten over that part of my life, it took a long time. I'm glad you had your dad. Even though, stricken with RA, he was there for you. It's really sad when people don't get the help they need. My first husband had mental problems, and would not get any help. He's still out there abusing people, and still no help. I'm surprised he hasn't killed someone, he's so angry at the world. So, what part of TX do you live in? We have a lot of people from TX. I live in OK, so just a neighbor over the border, lol I know your having the same type of weather there, it's just so awful. I hope you enjoy your night, and your able to get sleep, Tawny > > > > > > Nae,
