Guest guest
Hi When I had a painful itchy shingls rash I used Buro-sol. One litle package mixed with water makes quite a bit. Then I soaked clean rags in it and laid them on the itchy part. Guest guest
Deleanne, Â I always try water with a little lemon concentrate to make sure if it's a yeast based rash it will die easily. I just swab a cotton ball all over it once per day and that usually works. Yeast, is jock itch, and foot fungus too, usually it's recomeded to soak feet in vinegar water, but, lemon is still the same malic acid chemical and it doesn't stink so bad. Finally got in to see a dermatologist only to be diagnosed with Folliculitis caused by a MRSA that is resistant to Keflex. That is funny because I'm allergic to Keflex. The dermatologist prescribed a Benzo-Perox wash and long term Bactrim. This might have ended well except the pharmacist had not dealt with this lotion before and told me she thought it was to be applied AFTER a shower. I wondered why it was so stinking thick then. After 2 weeks of this I developed the itchiest rash I've ever had (worse than poison ivy!) where I've been applying this lotion. I quit using the lotion at that point. Got back in to see the dermologist yesterday....and....the lotion was to be used as a SOAP IN THE SHOWER!!! Just another day in my life. So now I have ANOTHER lotion that I'm supposed to put on this stupid rash which has now spread around my belly to the point that I look like a red & white Belted Galloway cow! Wonderful. So now I'm applying the anti-rash ointment then Eucerin Calming lotion and Eucerin moisturizing creme everywhere else because he said my skin is extremely dry and that was why the rash got started. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there anything else besides that " Calming Lotion " (it is an oatmeal based concoction) that will help with this itching? When it starts I look like a dog with lots of fleas going crazy. Will taking Benedryl help? I'd take up heavy drinking at this point if it'd help!! Guest guest
Deleanne, I too get itching problem, and I take a small dose 10mg of Atarax, every night. I started out taking it 4 times per day during flares, but now seem to keep the horrendeous itching at baye with 1 pill. Ask your Dr. This has helped me for a long time. My daughter had folliculitis and the treatments used were worse than the rash. BUT this really does work. Guest guest
Dalanne, Sorry for having a laugh about this, but your description of yourself as resembling a Belted Galloway is hilarious. I hope you are improving and that today is a good day for you. Guest guest
Ah, it's OK, . I looked like one and now that the rash is pretty well gone I can laugh about it even more. I still itch but am faithfully using my moisturizing creme. My 10yr old asked me yesterday, " So Mom? Are your fleas gone? " . Thank goodness she asked that at home instead of out where others could hear! We're an odd family. Even the the rash is gone the " itchy " is still there. I stopped taking the Bactrim but have tried taking the last 4 doses to see if it happens again. So far it has not but I'm not trusting it yet. It definitely wasn't a yeast problem. I've been told that I type my thoughts just like I talk. That's a little scary I think. My friends tell me that I have a very vibrant but desert-dry sense of humor. I have to laugh as I go through this RA garbage. If I can't have a laugh then I have nothing to enjoy. Have a great day! Guest guest
I've read that with itching it worsens if you do itch. It's difficult not to but I try to put lotion on instead of scratching. It helps, so does a nice shower. Â ladeyangll
