Guest guest
I am starting to wonder if I have been misdiagnosed. Initially the rheum called me a " classic case " of polymyalgia rheumatica. The next week, when the blood test came back positive for anti-CCP, no, it is RA. Now I have read that anti-CCP can be positive years before RA would manifest. In the meantime, my symptoms have all abated except for lower neck pain and back pain/stiffness between my shoulders. It's pain that is not to the level that it interferes with my life but it has persisted since this whole thing started in January...more like an achy knot between my shoulder blades. My reading leads me to believe this pain location is more typical of PMR than RA. I no longer have any stiffness in the mornings and my hands/feet have never been involved....in fact, the stiffness walking has been gone since the second week I was on MTX (well before the MTX should have been having much effect). I go to yoga class and have full range of motion. I see the doctor next week and I am going to question this. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Guest guest
Janice- I have the same symptoms as well. But mine are caused by other things than the RA. Have you had a full Xray series or an MRI? Mine is caused from Ankylosing Spondylitis ( basically, arthritis in the spine ) which was diagnosed over 10 years before I had any RA symptoms. Of course, many symptoms can fit many medical issues- sure doesn't mean that you have that. Yes, I would question your Doc about it. in SC --- On Thu, 3/
Guest guest
When the doctor ordered the x-rays for RA, I was already mentioning pain along my spine, so that was x-rayed. We will discuss the x-rays at my appt. next week. It isn't that the pain is that bad, it is just always there, although I only feel it if I reach out in front of me, and it isn't something I had before.....I guess I will see what he says. My shoulders are a little stiff today, but is that from mowing the yard yesterday? yoga class? reducing the pred? This stuff can drive you crazy! Guest guest
Glad that you got spinal Xrays Janice. It may shed some light for you. As to your question about stiff shoulders- I am sure that I dunno. I am stiff just doin' nothin' at all some days and I promise you that I can't mow a lawn or go to Yoga classes on any day. It can all be frustrating, but it can't drive you crazy unless you let it. Try meditation- it really does help me a lot. I know it sounds simplistic as all get-out, but it works. Eventually, you can find that space inside yourself where the gears stop spinning. Kind of a mini- vacation from the pain and anxiety.
