I pre-ordered Wii Fit from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. It came on Wednesday and I was eager to set it up. I worked out for a total of 30 minutes on Wednesday but it was split in half due to time constraints. I thought it was fun but I was a little skeptical because it didn't seem all that strenuous. (Not that I NEED strenuous right now but I was thinking about down the line.) Yesterday I did a workout on it for 30 minutes. It was fun and I was actually sweating!

Likes:

*It makes exercise fun. The games are cool and funny (my husband thought it was hilarious to watch me hula hoop with imaginary hoops!). I was laughing just as much as I was sweating.

*There are a good variety of games. I haven't even played them all yet in the hour (total) I have used it.

*It gives you good feedback when you're not doing something the way it thinks you should.

*It keeps track of your progress both that day and for all the days you've exercised.

*It is motivating to get to put a stamp on the virtual calendar saying "I worked out this day!"

*It is difficult enough that I don't think I will get bored with it anytime soon.

Dislikes:

*I wish you could pick from a wider variety of trainers. You basically get a man or a woman and they are bland, bland, bland.

*Sometimes it's a little condescending. I had a 1.5 pound weight "loss" on day two and first it congratulated me only to then remind me that weight can fluctuate up to 2 pounds per day.

*You have to pick a fitness goal. Well, maybe you don't have to but it is strongly advised. I don't want the head games of goals so I picked an innocuous 5 pounds in one month because I DO want to lose weight...I just don't want to feel like I'm inadequate if I don't get there. Still, I'm not letting myself care too much about this because the main purpose is to have fun and be more active than I have been.

*It's HARD. The yoga and strength training stuff is HARD. I'm sure one day I'll be fine but for now it's very difficult.

*The Wii board does take some getting used to with maneuvering throughout the games. Sometimes it's counter-intuitive and takes too long to react. Other times it's right on the money and reacts quickly.

Do I regret buying it? Not a chance. Usually with things like this I like to wait a few months to a year, even, for bugs to get worked out. But I'm really glad I got it because I was definitely feeling like I needed to incorporate some regular exercise into my life. In rainy Seattle, it's so easy to say "I don't want to walk today; it's raining" and now I don't really have an excuse not to at least get some activity.
