Guest guest
Joy, (like your name- it's easier to spell than mine!) I am on 7 Methotrexates, folic acid, and my calcium with D. I can't take Prednisone as my body threw a major hissy fit. Neither can I take Plaquenil. I used to be on Plaquenil but as time went on my body decided it didn't like that drug either. I'd like to spank my immune system for acting up like this but I think at this point my immune system would probably enjoy it. My Rheumy can't see me until mid-March. He thinks the constant high and low pressure systems sailing thru here are causing my excessive pain. Honestly I don't care what's causing it- I just want my pain level kicked. Really hard. Since Tramadol seems to not be working I've taken it out of my weekly pill stash. I promised the Rheumy at my mid-Jan checkup that I'd take one more treatment of Orencia (the Feb. one) and then in March we'd see where I was painwise. Right now I don't think I'm going to be anywhere else in March other than where I am now. I'm trying to take better care of myself so that might help in the long run. I don't look like it but I weigh 280 on a 5'4 " body. The few who I've told my weight still don't believe I'm this heavy. Anyway I'm starting Atkins next week with my Rheumy's blessing and I bought a Wii and Wii Fit. That Fit is a blast! I've never had fun excercizing before but it takes my mind off my hands. My balance is off and after I work on the balance games my feet don't hurt so bad. At the least the Wii takes my mind off my body. When it hasn't worked for me, it's been because my RA is so " flared-up " that tramadol just doesn't help. Does your doctor have you on any combination therapy? > That is, disease-modifying drugs besides the Orencia? > My treatment has always been the best when several RA drugs are used in combination. Right now I take Humira, MTX, Plaquenil & Sulfasalazine. It really takes all 4 to knock out the symptoms. Is it possible that the Orencia alone isn't doing the job? > Just a thought....... > > Joy
Guest guest
Dalanne - I'm sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with pain. Are you taking Prednisone at all? Usually when I am having a flare, my Rheumy will have me up my Prednisone to 10mg for five days and then go back to the regular 5mg that I take daily anyway. I live in FL, so I KNOW how you feel when those fronts come through. Hurricane season (June 1 - November 30) is the worst!! Is there a way to get on a cancellation list with your Rheumy so you might could get in sooner? Take care. Feel better soon.....Doreen > > Joy, (like your name- it's easier to spell than mine!) > > I am on 7 Methotrexates, folic acid, and my calcium with D.
