Guest guest
's chocolate cake post really got me thinking. I have always used potential company as an excuse for buying foods that I don't really need - and usually eat only when in binge mode. Guess I too was indoctrinated with the idea that welcoming guests means plying them with food and drink. Since I am changing everything else about me, I'd like to change this, too. What do the rest of you offer unexpected guests? I always have tea, coffee, and soft drinks available. Although I don't drink, I often keep beer in the refrig for company, but don't usually have other alcohol around since I don't normally use it. I'd be very interested in how others handle this. Do you apologize when you don't offer snacks or alcohol? By the way, when I am expecting guests I do buy snacks and ask a friend to help me choose wine, etc. Barbara
Guest guest
My 'method' for welcoming people to my house is to tell them that I FLUNKED hostessing and if they would like something, just speak up! I also tell them that one of my mom's mottos was - shy people starve. (LOL!) And another of her 'rules' was that after 3 visits one isn't a 'guest' any more, but one of the 'family' and knew where the glasses, refrigerator etc. was . . . ;-) :) Katcha > Guess I too was indoctrinated > with the idea that welcoming guests means plying them with food and drink. > Since I am changing everything else about me, I'd like to change this, too. > What do the rest of you offer unexpected guests? > Barbara >
