Guest guest
, I bought some Absorbine Veterinary Liniment Gel (horse liniment) from Tractor Supply that helps me. It contains natural menthol and alcohol. I had to use some in the middle of the night last night because my back and hip were keeping me awake. I have spondylolisthesis, which is not a slipped disc but a slipped vertebra. It did ease it off. I have also used Theragesic, which has helped, also. Guest guest
, I've used a lot of things to help with the pain especially in the wrists and lower back. Even magnetic balls! They helped because I exercised my muscles with them, but don't really think the magnetic properties did much, though some people swear by them. I Also wore copper rings and bracelets and I think just the thought of doing something positive helped some... like a placebo.. that seemed to relieve somewhat. I made a concoction or the herbs, Ginger root and a bit of cayenne pepper in rubbing alcohol and paint the inflamed areas. IT does help quite a lot. I keep the jar handy and use it as needed. I also make a salve with the herb Comfrey, using the leaves and adding Cayenne Pepper ( Capsicum), Olive Oil honey and Bees wax and it helps and seems to help the cells regenerate somewhat. I keep all kinds of skin lotions, lineaments and salves handy, like Ben Guay, Vicks vapo rub,and other roll-on salves that contain Mentholatem and get some relief. I tapered off the INSAIDS gradually because of the side effects which were sapping my over-all muscle strength and energy. I began to have a lot more energy. My trouble is, when I get the energy to do stuff, I over-do and have to go back to an occasional insaid to make the resulting flare bearable. But, only an occasional NSAID instead of 2 daily doses of each. I also use heat pads (usually wet ones) as well as the commercial pain Patches. I also had GIRDS really bad from all the acid forming NSAIDS and I had to get my gastric system balanced a bit and so I went back to taking my OACV (Irganic apple cider vinigar) and Honey drinks and that has helped immensely. No more purple pills and such. It is true that the RA is still progressing, but not as rapidly and with less pain. ...just when I over do and don't get enough rest. I think, after years of pain and discomfort and no-one knowing why the ole lady seemed to be in so much pain, I was finally told that I did show positive RA. That was in about 1996 when I had extreme inflammation and finally was tested and definitely positive. These are a few of the things I do for pain. Also try to keep moving the bod. Hope this will be of some help. God Bless. Lee IN GOD WE TRUST ---- D <mchristinad@...> wrote: ============= snip..... Has anyone had any experience with capsaicin or some other brand like that? Guest guest
Please be careful!!!!! I bought a capsaicin product the other day for shingles pain. I applied some last night before going to bed. Once I got in the bed and got all warm it started burning like fire. I tried washing it off but it was too late!!! I finally got a bag of frozen peas out and put that on it and it finally calmed it. That stuff is wicked! lol S. > > , I've used a lot of things to help with the pain especially in the wrists and lower back. Even magnetic balls! Guest guest
I have used Capsaicin Arthritis Pain Relief in a roll-on bottle. It does help somewhat. It will burn if the area gets warm, like from using a heating pad. I put it on in the morning after a shower, not when I go to bed. It doesn't smell. Good luck. > > I was doing fine last year being on Arava, 10 mg., Plaquenil, 200 mg., and Lortab 5/500 3x a day plus Voltaren creme for pain. I didn't need to use the cream all the time but it certainly helped on days when I did. Flash forward to this year-- I am on long term Coumadin treatment and can no longer use Voltaren cream because it has never been tested to see if it is okay with blood thinners. I went to see my rheumatologist yesterday and he really didn't have anything to offer. I had already had steroid injection in December when my thumbs weren't functioning correctly and they hurt so badly. That worked for a while but in mid March, the pain came back. I had to have my teenage daughter drive one day because my thumb was so bad. I asked him about pepper cremes and he said he used to recommend those before the Voltaren creme. He says it can irritate the skin though. My skin is very dry since I have Sjogren's along with my RA so I am somewhat worried about that. Has anyone had any experience with capsaicin or some other brand like that? Guest guest
Biofreeze has been a wonderful addition to all the other stuff I take. It really helps when my shoulder and knee are out of control. None of the other OTC stuff helped at all. Voltaren Gel made my liver blood work go crazy. I stopped the Voltaren, the liver went back to normal. Hope this helps you...
