What does it mean to " open a draft guidance " ? I was on Remicade for years but it

stopped working. Now I have started Orencia (new) and methotrexate (after

almost a year) again.

Thank you

Hello, Maggie.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is a

UK organization which makes recommendations and creates guidelines for

the National Health Service (NHS - UK).

That they've " opened a consultation on draft guidance " means that they

are announcing that they are examining a particular issue, but that

the final guideline hasn't been decided yet. They then receive input

on what they are proposing.

In this case, they have stated that they believe that Orencia

(abatacept) is not a cost-effective option for those with RA who have

failed non-biologic DMARDs.
