Guest guest
FYI to west coast members: This clinic is in British Columbia, Canada Regards, Pam --- new ataxia clinic at UBC Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 10:15:27 -0700 From: queen@... (Fiona E. ) Hello everyone! We've had some great news. Dr. Blair Leavitt, a neurogeneticist at UBC, is conducting clinics for ataxia and wants to reach all people affected with ataxia in the province. He currently has monthly clinics but plans to increase these. There is currently a lot of development happening at UBC as part of the planned Brain Research Centre. The hope is to model the ataxia clinic on the existing Huntington's Disease (HD) clinic which includes specialized staff including a genetic counsellor, a social worker, an occupational therapist as well as the neurogeneticist. In the case of the HD clinic they currently have three clinical trials underway and have compiled a large database tracking the disease here in BC. If you'd like to find out more about the ataxia clinic or want your general practitioner to refer you there you (or your doctor) can call Jeanette at the clinic (currently shared with the HD clinic) at or Dr. Blair Leavitt at . Best of luck to all! If anyone wants more information about the BC Ataxia Society and how to get more involved (in the Lower Mainland at this point), please feel free to get in touch. Fiona queen@...
