Thank you for finding this article. I have passed it on to two of my

kids, they both meet the criteria in the article. They're both in

their twenties. The idea of them getting psoratic arthritis really

scares me, at least we can watch for signs and act quickly if it

happens!

Nail Dystrophy a Predictor of Psoriatic Arthritis in Psoriasis Patients

By Rizzo

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Feb 25 - Less than 10% of psoriasis patients

develop psoriatic arthritis during their lifetime, according to

results of a study published in the February 15th issue of Arthritis

and Rheumatism. Clinical predictors of psoriatic arthritis include

nail, scalp, and perianal involvement.

Dr. Hilal Maradit Kremers and colleagues from the Mayo Clinic, College

of Medicine, Rochester, Minnesota, identified a cohort of 1633

patients at least 18 years of age with psoriasis diagnosed between

1970 and 1999. Of these, 40 subjects were diagnosed with psoriatic

arthritis at the same time as the psoriasis diagnosis and were

excluded.
