Guest guest
Hi OKD. I was so sorry to read that you had that awful Swine Flu. Boy were you sick! I am unable to take Flu shots anymore due to an allergy. I too worried about getting it. I do know that when we are very sick, it sets off Asthma, Bronchitis, then I have to use a Nebulizer, inhalers, extra Pred., antibiotics, etc. Such is the life with RA. I am glad you are on the road to recovery. I know it takes awhile to get the MTX working again. I was off it for 4 weeks, and boy do I know how much you are suffering. When I started on the MTX after that length of time, my shot made me so sick, I felt like vomiting 24/7. I called my Rheumy, and she told me to take 1/2 the dose each week, until the nausea stopped. It finally did, and I am back on my original dose.  I am glad to see you posting again, and that you feel well enough to do that. Take care in your recovery, and rest as much as you can. Wishing you better days ahead, and many pain free days too.  Hugs,  Barbara From: OKD <Cofade_2000@...> Subject: [ ] Shoo Flu, dont bother me!!! Date: Thursday, May 6, 2010, 10:20 AM  Hi group: I have been absent as of late, I got really sick. I am almost caught up with reading the last month's postings. I got the SWINE FLU, but still glad I refused that hyped-up, money making, drug company invented vaccine, I still will refuse it next year too!!! I took the regular flu shot, fat lot of good it did..L0L:)). ..anyways, was I sick for about a month! It started with a very high (104) fever for 2 days, it took an entire week for it to go down to 101 where it stayed for another 4 days, then after plenty fluids, and being in the hospital for 2 days, I was vomiting, dehydrated, the worst I have ever been and sick, I couldnt get up for about 10 days, well with IV fluids and Reglan I recovered, but then i developed hypersensitive airways and asthma, so after a bout with ventolin, z-pac, prednisone and flovent, I finally, after one month, got better. Now, of course, I couldnt take my Enbrel, nor methotrexate, and I just started back last week, ugh!!! I am feeling the RA creep back into my blood, everything hurts, especially shoulders, jaw, hands....I am doing the prednisone dance, but I know it will take awhile for the Enbrel and MTX to build back up into my system. When I first started it took more thsn 6 months before I felt the RA under control, now I feel like I am back to square one, BUT MORE EDUCATED THANKS TO THIS GROUP. If I didnt have this group to read I would be lost. What I realized is to never fear, have confidence in my body's ability to withstand anything and in knowing that " I aint going out like this " Be well everybody OKD
Guest guest
Barbara: Thanks so much, you are such a soothing writer, your words always make me feel better. So much pain today, both shoulders, hands, one side of my jaw, the damn stiffies came back too, I am on my second week back of meds and I know it will take a while to build back up in my system. It took me 6 months to get my RA under control, so imagine. I am taking OPANA now for the pain, 10 mgs in the morning, 40 at night and still it hurts. Dont want to take anymore, because its strong to begin with, so I use my flector patches, hot/cold, rest, whatever works at the moment. I just keep pushing myself, because I have to overcome this discomfort. OKD
