Thank you Marie, I know they are out there and the email I sent was literally to get people to remember because often these things are forgotten, the essence of that email is absolute truth although I believe it started as a hoax, probably by someone who wants to get people to realise what they are doing to their bodies - I spoke with one young lady at my opticians who said she was going to Cuba for her honeymoon - I mentioned that if she took with her soap, sanitary items and pencils, she would find friends for life. Oh no she says I have to fill my suitcase with diet coke - she was drinking in the region of 8 cans PER DAY. I have tried to educate her but will be taking in a few articles so that she can see for herself when she returns from honeymoon.

Hi nne,

I am pleased to be of help, as this is one of the reasons why we are

all here to both help and support each other and as such none of us

purposely set out to mislead others, not forgetting that we are all

human and all prone to human error, so if we do accidently and/or

unknowingly make the odd mistake all we need is gentle guidance

pointing us in the right direction at such times.

I must confess that I had not realized myself that, that article in

question regarding Aspartame was actually spam, and/or a hoax, or

whatever, but none the less it was very thought provoking and did get

its message across to its readers. Yet, thanks to Barbara's feedback

we now all know that it was spam e-mail, but this still does not

detract from the fact that if we consume any product in notable

quantities containing Aspartame that in turn it can have harmful

affects to our bodies. Therefore, as you say there is obviously

someone out there that also wants to get this message across to us

even if it was done in the unsavory form of spam e-mail.

Hope you manage to have some influence on that young lady regarding

the harmful affects to the body in terms of drinking too much diet

coke on a daily basis.

Warm Wishes

Marie

Hi there. Welcome to our group. What is your name please?

No, don't have any artificial sugars or sugar substitutes of any

kind. Aspartame is particularly damaging because it turns into wood

alcohol in the body which is a horrible poison, often causing severe

brain damage.

The only sweetener allowed on this program is stevia, which should be

the ground up leaf. You can buy it at health food stores or at

Mountain Rose Herbs (see the ad on the bottom of every page on my

website).

As you probably realize, all of your symptoms are die-off symptoms as

explained in my main candida article:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php

If you change over to this program too quickly your symptoms will be

worse than necessary - see " Curing Candida, How to Get Started " ;

Hi ,

Agave syrup is basically sugar - doesn't matter if it's better for you

or tastes better - it's still sugar; so no, it's not allowed on this

plan. There's some research that shows Stevia being the only sweetener

that doesn't grow Candida - although there are some like me who are

too sensitive to anything sweet to have it.

Anita

Agave isn't allowed on this program. It still feeds candida. Stevia is

the only sweetener allowed and it should really only be used in

moderation so you can begin to wean yourself away from sweets.

Try to find the powdered green leaf variety of stevia. Many others

have fillers in that are not good for you nor allowed on this program.

Yes aspartame is indeed poison! And I was appalled to find it in the calcium tablets prescribed by my GP!

Any advice on calcium WITHOUT the nasties would be welcome.

Surely you jest. Just because I use it to kill cockroaches and fireants doesn't mean it's poison. Jim

If Iodine is instrumental in assisting the body in detoxing - in general - they yes I would say it could play a part. Since every gland and mucosal lining require iodine this is a distinct possibility.

Thanks, Steph

That's disturbing, and I just found out that Splenda has it's own issues. I

don't know how I'm going to give up all aspartame and Splenda products. I cannot

drink only water, and I certainly can't afford the calories of anything else at

this point. It may sound trivial, but I get so little enjoyment out of life

these days after everything I've been through, and to have to give up these

products that I enjoy is painful.

Many years ago I heard repeatedly that synthetic sweeteners,

among other things, caused these two things:

1.

Your body learned to process it as sugar anyways, so was not

calorie free, was really giving you calories.

2.

Makes you crave more sweet things, instead of fulfilling the cravings.

So people using it end up eating more sweet things instead of less.

Unfortunately, I don’t have links to back it up, I read

about it years ago.

Thanks, Donna, but before I ever used iodine and hydrocortisone, although I was

using a lot of artificial sweeteners, I had no trouble keeping my weight down.

So, I don't think it had those effects on me.

A few months ago, I switched mostly to Splenda because I thought it was supposed

to be completely safe. I just read about Splenda having chlorinated molecules or

something like that (I can't remember the exact term). I'm wondering if I'm

getting a bunch of chlorine that I didn't even realize (from Splenda), and my

inability to effectively detox it has caused the weight gain I noticed almost

immediately after starting iodine.

Switch to Stevia, there are soft drinks available now made with Stevia, last I heard Pepsi and other major manufacturers were working on using it in their diet drinks. Another good option, if you're trying to wean off sodas is a product called Hi-Balls, they come in several different flavors, no sugars and have taurine so usable if you get late afternoon dips in energy. Sweetleaf makes a large number of liquid stevia flavors you can add to water. I have a young daughter who doesn't like water near as much as I do, so these options help. You might also try different types of water. Mountain Valley is great tasting water, we have a cooler at home and even the older kids will drink it. If you'd like more info, feel free to email privately.LinnOn Mar 24, 2010, at 12:50 PM, lookonthebriteside wrote:

Sherry,

I know exactly how you feel.  I

tried Stevia but hated the bitter taste it had.  Then I just said sugar was

better than artificial sweetners so I went back to that.  But weight is an

issue SOOO I have finally found a Stevia that is not bitter and I love it.  I

don’t ever miss the sugar now.  It is by NuNaturals.  Our Health store

had it and then I found it at Swanson Vitamins at ½ price of our Health store.

I haved tried almost all the stevia products out there. This one by far, is the best I have found, no bitter aftertasteat all. I get it from iherb.com (less espensive than in stores) but it is also sold in health food stores. http://www.iherb.com/KAL-Pure-Stevia-Extract-3-5-oz-100-g/18951?at=0 Kathleen

Hi Sherry,

Concern about "calories" is a false concern. It is not the calories, it is the type! The artificial sweeteners cause weight gain by messing with your endocrine system. It is another lie from the chemical industry. You would be far better off using some sugar, although, I use stevia, as Steph mentioned.

Also, drinking only water gets easier. I use some lime or lemon squeezed into it or 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar. You can also add 2 tsp. of raw(uncooked) honey.

I understand about not wanting to give up things! It took me over 20 years and lots of misery before I could give up gluten.

If you read the details of how dangerous asparatame and splenda and the others are, it might help. The thing that really pushed me to stay off gluten was finding out it causes stroke. The painful joints weren't enough, but, I do not want to have a stroke! Maybe there is something, like joint deterioration, brain inflammation, weight gain that will be enough to spur you on.

Good luck!

I use Stevis. I reluctanntly gave up ALL my soft

drinks, not only because of Aspartame, but becaise

of fluoride content, bromides, and high fructose

corn syrup. Not to mention the other chemicals in

them, and they acidify the body. It takes 12

glasses of water and drawing calcium form the

bones to netralize the acids of just one soft

drink. Have osteoporosis? Low Calcium " Getting rid

of the carbonated soft drinks is the best first

move. I haven't quite been able to dump the coffee

yet. I'm clinging like a lost child, LOL. But I

have found the more water I drink, the more I

want. I really don't miss the soft drinks that

much, especially when I know they'll make me

miserable.

You know, years ago I came across recipes for

homemade soft drinks made with natural products,

and the kids seemed to really like them. I can't

find them now to save my life. I had them saved on

my HD and when my comp crashed all that stuff went

with it. Sigh, it taught me to have an external

storage HD for stuff I want to keep. Anyway maybe

someone else here knows about them or has a link?

They were made with natural stuff like cherry

juice and stevia and some other stuff, they even

had their own natural carbonation. I've been

trying to find them again for while now.

I understand brominated vegetable oil is in the cloudy sodas, and fluoride is in

tea, but are those two items in other sodas as well?

I use the Swanson brand glycerin based or Now

glycerin based stevia because they don't have any

other additives. I don't like Maltodextrin, or

Dextrose or some of the other added sugars. If the

Stevia is a good quality it won't be very bitter.

I don't mind a little erythritol, but just a

little, Erythritol has a glycemic index of close

to zero so it won't spike blood sugars.

Maltodextrin is a bad one, it's almost as bad as

table sugar as far as glucose response is

concerned, a lot of bodybuilders use it in weght

gainers. And honey powder whether it's made from

real honey or agave powder will spike blood sugar

too, yes even though they are natural unprocessed

sugar sources. And that raises the question for me

of why if stevia is healthy and they know their

stuff, why are they adding some of these

questionable sugars to the stevia? Read your

labels folks:) I have to be very careful because

of the fact that hypoT really messed with my

glucose control, so I'm very aware of hidden stuff

that spikes blood glucose. I do my darndest to

keep my blood glucose levels steady without any

spikes to raise the insulin rsponse. Anyway that's

just my .02 worth.

There's lot of recipes on the web for ginger ale and root beer.
