I had RA the whole time I was active duty in the Navy. I think the constant

exercise actually helped keeps flares at bay. Kate F

Wow, Kate, that is amazing! What meds were you on at the time?

I work a full time job which can be hard on my body at times. I am a job coach

for adults with developmental disabilities. at the moment I am not on anything

but probably should be on something, I can feel my fingers swell and hurt a bit

sometimes but life must go on and someone has to work.

I still work, but now its only part time, last year i was at the cross roads of

to work or not to work following a long period of sickness. There are days when

i really struggle but i have found things that help me cope, i have acupuncture

weekly which eases the pain and gives me a great sleep, i go to curves gym 3

times a week and rather than make things worse it does seem to ease the pain and

stiffness, there are days though when i could go home and curl up in bed but im

always glad when ive made myself go.

I think its all about atitude you can lie down and give in to this or you can

find the ways to help you fight it just a bit longer, Im only 33 im not ready to

throw in the towel, the day will come when im forced to but until then ill drag

my weary body to work

I think I could handle working outside of the home if I just had to deal with

the pain. At least then I would know what to expect. It's all of the " extra "

illnesses/infections which would get me fired. Sometimes I get in these

patterns where I'm having one infection after another, and I don't think being

in a public work environment would help that. My kids are young so I volunteer

at their school and am a girl scout leader for two troops. With that, raising

the kids and maintaining the house, I'm at full capacity.

I wish I could work. Would beat the hell out of living in poverty.

I'm so glad to hear your feeling better.  I hope you have some great
