Opps maybe I wrote to soon. Would be great if you didn't have CMT.

I had a nerve and muscle biopsy when I was about 15 I think. Both upper

and lower leg - but only the left leg. That was about 1967 and it

required a overnight or two in the hospital. I was given a local

anesthetic for it and I was awake the whole time. They Drs. put mirrors

above me so I could watch and it was interesting. It didn't take very

long at all. But the incisions were deep and required stitches, then I

had to change the dressings on my leg several times a day. But didn't

need crutches or a wheelchair, could walk, left leg just somewhat stiff

for a few weeks. The result was 'negative'. Now, negative for what I

don't know. I think the Drs. were looking for more than 1 thing at that

time. On the scope of having 'procedures' done, it was probably one of

the easiest and least painful of all.~ G

Gretchen,

Thank you so much for your reply. My doctor feels that there might

be something other than CMT causing my recent exacerbation or at

least something that might be treatable like inflammation. There

have been so many advances in technology and diagnosis, that I am

hoping he will be able to point me in some direction...azl
