Guest guest
I have been given a diagnosis of RA. I took prednisone and loved it! The Dr. has me on methotrexate now. However, I am just not convinced I have RA. I have joint stiffness, very little swelling and discomfort about half of the time. Some days I feel great. Did anyone else begin RA this way? All that was found in my blood work is a high inflammation level (CRP). The Rheumatologist stated he would redo the blood tests in the future and is certain I will have more positives. He believes starting methotrexate will prevent joint damage. Is this normal? Thank you, Janine
Guest guest
Welcome Janine, I hope you don't have RA. Its tricky. I have not been diagnosed with anything yet due to seronegative bloodwork on everything. But have been symptomatic for years. Ranging from knee pain and stiffness to a little swelling, ankles and achilles tendons tight and sore when going up and down stairs, my fingers/knuckles are painful in the morning and very stiff (can't even make a fist), to neck pain, elbow pain, especially if I try to work on a nautalus machine (which I just cannot do anymore). I am on my 3rd RA. The first dismissed me immediately because I was pretty young and said I probably have osteoarthritis and didn't remark on any swelling. (wasn't as bad then). The second in Brigham and Womens hospital was suppose to be very good, fruit cake!!! The third is at UMAss Memorial in Worcester and seems about the only one that has taken an interest and feels there is something definately going on. (several operations later on my hand and wrists with severe synovitis/tenosynovitis). She too has run a battery of test and I look pretty normal but she sees swelling in my fingers and listens to my symptoms. Ithink she is thinking Lupus or RA (RA runs in my family). I am doing a trial diagnostically of Prednisone and my first night haven't slept a wink. Hope this works because I am pretty tired!!! Good Luck. > > I have been given a diagnosis of RA.
