Guest guest
Hello all-- please pardon my random parallel here, but I am finding it interesting and thought I would share. A co-worker of mine is pregnant (she found out when she was already 5 months along!) and she turned me on to this amazing book Ina May Gaskin's " Guide to Childbirth " . The book chronicles the midwifery practices at this place called The Farm out in Summertown, TN. I find it absolutely incredible-- so much of it is about trusting your body, that it will know what it needs to do when the time of birthing comes, that women have been doing this for thousands of years, etc., etc., etc. In thinking about it, it brought me back to the principles of IE and how many of us are in the struggle to rediscover our intuition about what we and our bodies need. We have heard from so many external sources about how we " should " be eating when the truth of what we need is within ourselves (albeit with some support of likeminded and non-judgmental individuals). The parallels of the current birthing mechanism in the US of hospitals, doctors and other women recounting the various horrors that can happen in birth and what " should " be done in that setting I think are very real to what we hear everyday about what new food will give us cancer, how/when we should eat, etc. And really it all comes down to us learning to trust ourselves and our bodies... happy Friday everyone, may we all learn to truly love and trust our bodies and the perfectly imperfect creations that we are. Guest guest
Neat parallel ! And yep - trusting our own bodies over 'experts' input is a much saner thing I'd say. Thanks for sharing - Katcha > > Hello all-- please pardon my random parallel here, but I am finding > it interesting and thought I would share.
