Guest guest
Greetings fellow RA suffers, I’m a newbie, 54 years young, but feeling very old right now. I found out I had UC about 25 years ago. It all started with sore feet! Then bleeding rectally. After many meds and so much prednisone, I ended up with a total colectomy. Life was better for a while and then about a year and a half ago, I woke up with an eye that was blurry. Uvitis was my new problem. After injections of prednisone in the eye and several eye drops, I then developed a cataract. Shingles was next. Then Remicade and more prednisone. I have had about 7 Remicade infusion treatments and have kicked  the prednisone, but I keep wanting to take control.  I was clean of prednisone at my last infusion and I wanted to see if Remicade was really helping. Since that last treatment I now have swelling in both hands, muscle soreness, extremely sore feet, knees, shoulders, elbows & hips. I am on week 2 of the Ultra Simple Diet but that doesn’t seem to be the answer to all. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had symptoms like mine or does anyone have words of wisdom for me? I go in tomorrow and see the rheumatologist before the infusion. Just thought I’d ask for help from all of you who are or have fought this fight. Thanks for listening. Bonnie J. Warren From: dominiblond <dominiblond@...> Subject: [ ] Clear thick liquid Date: Sunday, November 8, 2009, 9:04 PM  I started getting arthritis in my hands about 5 years ago. It started out as a lump on my right ring finger, knuckle closest to the nail. My boyfriend saw the lump. He had a lancet and pierced the lump. A clear thick liquid came out of the lump, reducing its size. At that time I had no idea it was going to be arthritis. Has anyone else had this liquid come out of the hands? What is it? I now have many nodules on every finger. I'm right-handed. My worst area is the knuckle closet to the nail on my right hand. It hurts all the time now. I expect that all the fingers will get worse. I've only ever been to my PCP for care and only for my regular check up. Even though it has progressed, he tells me I don't need to do anything about it. But now that my R index finger hurts all the time, I'm thinking I should see a specialist. How do you know when to seek additional help? Guest guest
Hi Dominique - you need to see your PC and then get a referral to a Rheumatologist, if needed. I've never heard of anyone lancing the nodules and I don't know that I would recommend that either. You could be setting yourself up for serious infection. Best of luck to you. I hope you get the medical care you need..... Doreen I started getting arthritis in my hands about 5 years ago. It started out as a lump on my right ring finger, knuckle closest to the nail. Guest guest
Dominique, There are many causes of subcutaneous nodules. If you think you have arthritis and the nodules are related to it, you should seek the opinion of a rheumatologist. Guest guest
I had a lump on my l. index finger that turned out to be a fibroma. I had it surgically removed. it felt different than a nodule does, though. it went all the way from one knuckle to the other and was really big. if you are concerned about it, i would seek medical help. we only have these one bodies, beat up as they can be! best wishes, jane in dallas > > I started getting arthritis in my hands about 5 years ago.
