But I do know that cucumber, eggplant and watermelon all have diuretic values to them. I didn't get the chance to look over this whole site (I will later) but it seems to have some great information in it about different foods: http://www.naturalways.com/medValFd.htm I have > recently been told of several medications that are better, but can't take > them since I am nursing. I am ready to hear ANY suggestions. I am open to > the clinical and the bizarre <g>! LOL... first off I say double check the medications, I know from 4 years of nursing and taking several medications that sometimes Dr's just don't want to look into it and go by what the PDR says. Normally the PDR (physicians desk reference) will say medications that are safe really aren't because the pharmacutical company didn't want to invest the money into it to actually find out.. there for say, do not use while breastfeeding. Here is a link to check out also call your local laleech group in your area, their leaders should be able to help as well. Dr. Hale has out a wonderful book that lists all the safe medications that normally Dr's offices do not have and are not even aware of. I had a Dr tell me to stop breastfeeding my daughter at 4 weeks old because he wanted to put me on a HBP medication. I refused and told him to choose one that was safe while breastfeeding. He wouldn't listen to me or look at any literature I could find for him. Needless to say he never saw me again as a patient. http://www.perinatology.com/exposures/druglist.htm My hands are so swollen they ache and my > toes look like little sausages! Ohhh I do feel for you! When I am retaining water my feet swell up and start pitting. They get so sore and hurt. Best of luck finding soemthing that will work for you soon! a
Guest guest
>Could anyone recommend ANYTHING that might help me?!? Besides getting your water pill renewed? Lay off the salt is #1. I always found regular tea (I use decaf but I'm sure regular works, too) acts as a diuretic. Believe it or not, Vitamin B Complex also makes me go more. >I have started adding lemon to my > water, because my mom said that helps with water retention. I don't know about that, but it *does* make it taste a little better. > but can't take them since I am nursing. Then ignore the B vitamin one. Babies don't need all that excess vitamins, and I'm sure it's also passed in breast milk. >My hands are so swollen they ache and my > toes look like little sausages! Silly suggestion, and probably impossible with 4 kids around the house (You *do* have 4, right?) but be sure to keep the feet elevated higher than your heart as much as possible. I also know for swollen hands they have gloves or mitts made out of the same material Ace bandages are, but they run a bit over $10/pair. You'd probably be better off getting your meds renewed. My holistic doctor told me that I could count my stevia lemonade as water so I would think that tea should be water too. Ellen
Guest guest
Hi, The only problem is that most tea is a diuretic and without compensating with a appropriate amount of water intake it might dehydrate you if you just drink tea. Even herbal tea like green tea has caffiene in it which is a diuretic. TK > I drink maybe three or four glasses of water a day, but throughout the > day, constantly, I have herb tea in my hand. You could roast your own chicory for coffee. That would contain very little sugar or starch. Duncan Crow

Guest guest
vitamin B-6 helps with water retention. Although Lasix (drug) is what I took yesterday after feeling like a balloon and I dropped 8 pounds of water I can bend my fingers now......!!! Sometimes drugs is the only answer. Parsley tea and B-6 will help keep it down once you get rid of the access suser@... wrote:Hi -- Looks like you are " up & running again! " YAY! Guest guest
I had a similar experience but did not know it was PA related. I had horrible abdominal pain, high fever, and nausea. In hospital for three days. CAT scans, ultra-sounds, and other tests later all they could tell me for sure was that I had a moderate amount of fluid in my pelvis. Diverticulitis was brought up but that was not it. I decided at this time with all of my uterine problems to have a hysterectomy. After surgery they said the fluid was possibly from one of the cysts in that area. I will have to look into this further. Thanks, Eileen
Guest guest
I had fluid on my knee and it looked like a large baseball. I couldn't do stairs anymore or bend the knee. It was very painful. The meds didn't get rid of it, so my rheumy drained it with a syringe. He took out about 1/2 ..cup of fluid from the knee and it's been fine for 5 years. Since I've been on Enbrel (6 years) I've had very few problems. In fact, most days I forget I have RA. What I do find very frustrating is that I'm obviously limited by fatigue and OA and fibro and a disc problem in my back but most people don't think there's anything wrong with me because I look healthy. Anybody else feeling this way? Katriina
Guest guest
I hate the looks I get from people when I park in the handicapped spot. All they see is a young person - they don't seem to see me limping from pain... So I totally understand!
