Guest guest
Hi Randy,  Yes, the weather affects me too. So much so that I moved to New Mexico from Wisconsin. Back in WI both the cold and humidity caused me to flare. Sometimes I was so bad I could barely get out of bed. It took all my strength to get up to the bathroom and then back to bed. So I moved and now the lower humidity and warmer temps made a big improvement. I still have symptoms but mostly in 1 knee. I have to walk w/a crutch but at least I can get around. Before, in Wisconsin, I spent days in bed, crying because everything hurt so much.  I'm glad you have your work to distract you from the pain. Having something else to focus on is good. Also, you're wise to live in gratitude as much as you can. When things get bad, I try to be thankful for the little things.  I have not experienced the sharp, shocking type of pain you describe. Maybe you should get some crutches as they would give you more support than a cane. I also have osteoporosis so am very careful not to fall. I'd rather use a crutch and take the weight off my bad knee, than risk a fall. Date: Monday, May 10, 2010, 10:26 PM     Today was a fairly good day, moderate pain that I can deal with, tonight we have another storm moving through, I know because I can feel it. For the last 6 weeks we have had weather moving through every other day, does anyone else have pain during weather changes? how do you deal with this? any magic tricks that help? Sometimes I have a hard time doing the treatment groups that I run, but I must, for these people it is life or death. I am a substance abuse counselor to be (I am doing my internship). Counseling helps me to get out of myself and my woes and helps me to realize that there are others dealing with problems that I am grateful that I no longer have. I have to remember how blessed I am. I am still not sure how or what to say or do on this list, I have so many questions and things to learn and probably mistakes to make. I don't want to offend or tic anyone off so if I do I apologize in advance.      I have been having a new symptom for the last 2 weeks, while walking or standing I get this sharp shocking pain in my lower back and my legs just collapse out from under me and luckily so far I have not fallen yet, thanks to my cane. I am not sure what this means.                   Randy
