Guest guest
I worked with senior adults for many years. The key is getting help. Get a good physiotherapist to help show you how to move her using a gait belt. She might qualify for home health and/or home therapy. The more services you can get for her the easier your job is. There are tons of adaptive equipment available. At her age she might also qualify for hospice. Most people think hospice is only for those who are outright terminal but many groups will qualify someone on their medical history and help with care. They pay for medicines related to the diagnosis, briefs, equipment and home health plus a nurse as needed. I love hospice and talked with family members about early hospice when they were willing to listen. That way it gives you help AND they get to know her before she gets to the critical point. Oh and hospice is free. [ ] RA help Hi group, Ken here and I just joined this group. My 91 yo Aunt has severe RA in her knees, hands, shoulders. I'm gonna have to be her caretaker since she lives with my Ma. I am going to start splitting my time with them and with my family. She is now in the hospital getting therapy but her mobility is severly limited. How do you all cope with this? She's too heavy (160lb) to lift if she can't help me. So bathroom and other things are getting tough. Any ideas? I'll have other questions and will search the forum but this is new to me and I need ideas. Thanks, Ken ------------------------------------
