IMHO, healing from the inside out means letting go of issues with food and

turning to food for comfort and learning to listen to the body telling us

what we need in terms of nutrition. It also entails healthy boundary

settings for ourselves as far as relationships with others. Being at a

" normal " weight only addresses PHYSICAL health issues. The rest of the

issues are emotional. I don't think Vicki's response to was a lecture

or harsh. She was just sharing her philosophy. Perhaps she struck one of

your " red flag " buttons and caused you to become defensive...... Just a

thought.

Vikki, FYI, I have an 18 yr old daughter who can NOT have the surgery. I do,

however, share your insights with her regularly and hope that some day they

will click for her and she will achieve normalcy without relying on the

Some of us just naturally feel others' pain within ourselves when we hear

them struggling with issues that we know are too close to home for comfort.

I would be devastated if I began to regain any weight. It is a very real

fear for me. I label it " fear of failure " as I am at the point in my journey

where I have NEVER been successful: maintaining my weight. And hearing

others experiencing regain, feeds my fear. I do get encouragement from you,

though, Vickie, and your insight has been invaluable to me. I do not EVER

want to chastise those struggling with regain/food issues. And healing from

the inside OUT, seems to be a very appropriate title for this thread! THAT

is where true healing needs to begin.

Vicki, I just sent email to asking if she was interested in my

purchasing this for her as she is currently reading the 7 Secrets book. I

gave it to her first and have not read it myself yet. I just know from what

i have read online, it seems to be right up her alley. She is on

anticoagulation therapy and can NOT have vitamin K (no salads, broc,

cauliflower, cabbage, etc.) " Diets " are NOT gonna work for her!! She needs

to learn something else. She was on steroids and has gained about 60 lbs.

:( Thanks for the info. Is it something I can order from a local bookstore,

too??

so true....this would be " enabling. " You are right....feelings of compassion

are definitely evoked when I hear of someone struggling. And I know that it

is a positive thing to share personal experiences to help someone " over the

hump " so to speak. Whether or not they choose to listen and change or just

continue to whine is THEIR choice! Kinda like " sh** or get off the pot! "

Trying to help another can become too much of a burden if they are stuck in

their own pity party.
