Guest guest
I've been trying to separate the two and focus on how exercise makes me feel. When I focus on that, I want to exercise because it makes me feel so good. When I focus on weight loss, I get discouraged when I don't feel like I've lost weight. I'm starting to realize that feeling good is more important than losing weight! Subject: exercise vs. fitnessTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Received: Thursday, June 26, 2008, 8:16 AM I am having a lot of trouble seperating fitness from weight loss. I know this is not true, but I associate to two together. And since I am not working on weight loss right now, I don't want to exercise.I KNOW exercise is good for....your heart, bones, muscles, mental health, etc.But I just don't care.I know I should. Guest guest
Perhaps its the definition of 'exercise' that has you boxed in? If you think that you can only be 'fit' by going to a gym and moving in a certain way, then I would say that that definition is an EXternal one, and not one that really works for your body. To me exercise is ANY movement. Bending over to pick up something on the floor is a 'stretch', climbing stairs is 'aerobic' and even washing dishes is fine hand and arm motor muscle control ;-). The only caution I can give you is that if you walk a big dog hold the leash with the same arm, you might find that that arm becomes longer over time - KIDDING!!! Well as others here have often pointed out - if you enjoy doing it, you WILL do it and why not have fun with it too? Dance, evening walks, tugging with your dog its favorite toy, all these are exercise in my mind :) Katcha > > I am having a lot of trouble seperating fitness from weight loss.
