Guest guest
I was told there isn't much they can do for me aside from insoles (I had them custom made at the office) and forefoot reconstruction. At the moment I am in the middle of student teaching so I can't think of doing foot surgery, so I wear my Crocs. The surgery requires too much down time. I don't know how good they are, but I know my feet don't hurt with them on. My bones ends are pretty much disintegrated. Looks like a balls of mess. From: cynthiadew1 <cynthiadew1@...> Subject: [ ] Feet - bone erosions Date: Thursday, March 5, 2009, 7:06 PM At my appointment last Tuesday, I had X-rays taken. Probably to rule out changes in my bones. Alast that has not the case. After being in increasing pain with by feet. The x-rays showed erosions. So what's next? I'm not new to RA by any length. I just had surgery to fix the bone spurs, and disc problems with my neck. Which has been great so far. Much less pain in my arms! But ya gotta walk, just to get out of bed in the morning! So, anyone else have problems with there feet? What was done?
Guest guest
My feet and ankles felt like i was walking on glass for a long time. I have bone loss in my foot. I know one thing is that now i walk on them im strengthening them more. I can only wear a certain kind of shoe, etc. I do have to rest during the day when my knees and foot start hurting .. Hope this helps. Jolene In a message dated 3/15/2009 1:24:18 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, bcreedon@... writes: Hi : Sorry to read that your feet are so bad. That is where the RA hit me the worst. They have helped me tremendously. When my feet and ankles are really bad, I spend most of my time either in bed or on the couch. It is horrible if I have to stand on them, even worse to walk when a bad flare hits. I know just what you are going through with painfull feet. I am so afraid of falling again. I had a bad flare in Aug, causing me to fall and I broke my shoulder and foot. Spent 2 1/2 months in the hospital recovering. I hope it never happens again. Wishing you pain free days ahead. Guest guest
Thanks for your replys. I've been walking anyway. I don't get the severe intense pain usually until I sit for a while after or the next morning. I do have several pairs of special shoes. I've found for off the rack shoes, Keens fit my feet the best. The joke my body is playing right now is that I really don't have the really swollen, puffy from edema, feet. In fact my feet are about as non-swollen as they get. I can see the bunions on my pinkie toe that have formed, random rheumatoid nodules, my toes look like sausages, and really annoying swollen bit on the bottom of the ball of my foot. I should also say that I'm no novice to foot pain. It's the area where my arthritis first hit hard. I've been buying special shoes for a decade, and I've had small bone erosions and osteopenia even longer. What freaked me out was the size of the erosions on the x-rays. A good sized chunk of the joint was gone. I didn't look at the rest of the x-ray, I was looking at the xray with my Rheumy. So we focused on the parts that were causing my new pain. Just not a fun part of RA.
