        I just realized that I ran out of prednisone last week, could

this be

why I have been so miserable? I forgot that when I was filling my weekly med

container that I was out after Sun. of last week and didn't realize it till I

filled it this morning.

I also weaned off prednisone very, very slowly – like ½ mg every 10 days or

so. I had suffered a spontaneous hip fracture at age 38 from the

prednisone, and so I knew I had to get off of it. I remember being so scared

to stop that last ½ mg, but I did. I have not had any since early 2007.

So, I believe it is possible! Best wishes,

Hi Randy..that could possibly be the reason. We're not supposed to just

stop the prednisone...you have to be weaned off slowly. Hope the pred will

help you.

If you have been on predisone for any length of time, you need to be

taken off of it slowly. Abruptly stopping predisone is not just

uncomfortable, it can easily be fatal.

Suddenly stopping the supply of steroid hormones that your body has

become adjusted to receiving can induce an acute adrenal crisis.

Bottom Line: Your at risk of rapidly developing a life threatening

medical emergency when you abruptly stop using this type of steroids.

Please contact your doctor immediately for direction on re-starting

the medication. Go to the emergency room if this is not possible for

any reason.

Hi Randy.

 

Just stopping Pred. like that will make your body so painful.  I hope you are

back on it now.  It is my wonder drug and I doubt I will ever be off it.  If

you want off the Pred. you have to do it ever so slowly, if not, you will be

riddled with lots of pain.

 

I hope you will soon feel better.
